The Team:
Developer Experience (DevX) is the backbone of engineering productivity at Zopa. Our 4‑6‑person squad owns the tooling, shared platforms and standards that let every product engineer ship customer value with speed, stability and confidence — our north star. Current initiatives include working towards a unified build‑and‑release path, a Developer Portal, AI‑powered automation experiments, value‑stream diagnostics and a company‑wide Honeycomb observability migration. You’ll work across AWS, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Go and more.

The Role:
This Associate Software Engineer role is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in cloud technologies and gain hands-on experience with industry-leading tools. As a DevX Engineer at Zopa, your week blends hands-on engineering with real customer impact. You’ll spend most of your time building and evolving internal delivery and observability tools — writing Go code, shaping CI/CD pipelines, and refining Terraform infrastructure that supports every product team at Zopa.

Each day kicks off with team stand-ups, followed by focused coding time or pairing with colleagues to deliver features across the SDLC, observability, or developer productivity initiatives. You might jump into a platform tribe sync, a whiteboarding session where you or another member would share a new idea or collaborate with a squad to identify friction points using real data and developer feedback.

There’s space for outreach too — whether it’s supporting engineers through our internal forum, contributing to technical interviews, or documenting best practices in the DevX portal. On rotation, you’ll help triage and resolve internal platform issues, improve support process and tooling, and ensuring a smooth developer experience across the board.

It’s a fast-paced, learning-rich environment with strong collaboration at its core — balancing technical depth with a human-centred approach to enabling great software delivery.

About You:

  • Experience in CI/CD, deployment and container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • AWS experience and proficiency in at least one programming language (we use Go)
  • Developer empathy & outstanding communication skills; thrive on coaching and cross‑team collaboration
  • Track record of data‑driven decision‑making and continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and incident‑management best practices
  • Growth mindset; curious about GenAI and its impact on developer productivity

Added Bonus:

  • Exposure to regulated or high‑compliance domains; fintech being a bonus
  • Contributions to open‑source DevX or CNCF projects
  • Advanced Honeycomb or observability‑as‑code know‑how
  • Relevant cloud/Kubernetes certifications welcome but not mandatory
