The Role

The Data Operations team is seeking a data expert responsible for ensuring that vendor and internal investment data used across Fidelity’s investment processes, analytics platforms, and decision-making workflows are delivered consistently, accurately, and on a timely basis.

The Data Operations team are the stewards of data for QRI (Quantitative Research and Investments). They focus on quality control of all data that feeds into investment processes, including, but not limited to, fundamental data, security T&Cs, portfolio holdings, and risk data.

In this role, you will utilize domain expertise necessary to root-cause daily issues effectively, work with internal and external data providers to resolve issues at source, answer portfolio and risk manager questions, and develop automated systems for identifying data quality issues.

The Skills and Expertise You Bring:

  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of financial data including security, company, portfolio, and index-level information, as well as pricing across equities, bonds, and derivatives.
  • Lead quality service efforts to address overnight data feed issues, enabling fast, seamless responses to upstream problems and insulating production and research teams.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets, implement data quality controls, and identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.
  • Utilize SQL, Python, Snowflake, and/or Oracle, along with data quality frameworks, anomaly detection techniques, and statistical best practices to support data validation and monitoring.
  • Navigate complex data environments, resolve root-cause data quality issues with internal and external partners, and develop automated controls to ensure high-quality data for investment decision-making.
  • Experience working with risk analytics datasets from leading vendors such as Barra, Axioma, Northfield, and Bloomberg, along with a basic understanding of market risk models and portfolio risk management concepts, is desirable but not required.
  • Communicate effectively across technical and investment teams.
  • Document procedures and validate data to maintain transparency and reliability.

Education

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • Bring 3+ years of experience in global data operations or support teams within peer firms, with a proven track record of delivering value.

The Team

The Data Operations team is an integral part of the QRI Investment Services division in Asset Management. The team supports QRI, which is responsible for the management and development of quantitative investment strategies and solutions, while providing high quality quantitative, data-driven support to Fidelity’s fundamental investment professionals, ensuring they have access to the most relevant data and advanced quantitative analysis.
