About the Role
We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our dynamic Springer Journals publishing team as an Associate Publisher within the Biomedicine group, working on a portfolio of respected endocrinology and metabolism journals.
In this role, you will manage and develop a defined portfolio of journals, working closely with Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Board Members, and internal stakeholders. You will play a key role in driving journal growth through strategic development, data-driven decision-making, and strong stakeholder engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about scientific publishing to gain exposure to all aspects of the journals business while contributing to impactful biomedical research.
Role Responsibilities
Portfolio management: Manage and develop a portfolio of endocrinology and metabolism journals in line with business strategy
Stakeholder engagement: Act as the main point of contact for Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Board Members, and society partners, building strong and lasting relationships
Journal development: Identify and implement strategies to increase submissions, visibility, reputation, and citations
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with editorial, production, marketing, and operational teams to support journal success
Editorial support: Organise Editorial Board meetings, respond to queries, and support editors with publishing matters
Performance monitoring: Track journal performance, peer review data, and open access development to optimise workflows and growth
Content promotion: Support marketing activities such as blogs, press releases, and social media
Publishing operations: Ensure accurate data management, monitor workflows, and support ethical publishing in line with COPE guidelines
Representation: Attend conferences and represent Springer Nature externally when required
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Essential
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a scientific discipline
Understanding of publishing business models (subscription, hybrid, open access)
Knowledge of the academic publishing process
Strong communication and influencing skills
Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High level of digital literacy
Ability to collaborate effectively across teams
Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
Interest in endocrinology, metabolism, or related fields
Experience in academic publishing (journals or books), ideally in a bioscience field
Experience building and engaging research communities
Willingness to travel and represent the company externally
