Job Description

Please note, deadline for applications is Friday 5th June at 5pm. If we reach capacity for applications before this time, we may take the job advert down earlier.

We’re looking for an Associate Product Manager to join our growing team in London and help shape the future of reliability at Wise. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission, grow as a product person, and enable foundational elements that keep Wise running behind the scenes everyday.

The Platform Tribe creates the technology that enables Wise to move the world's money. Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the frameworks, capabilities and tools needed to serve millions of customers. Our internal developer platform powers the entire software development life cycle, including developer experience, reliability, data, and security.

To achieve this, we think about our underlying infrastructure platform as a product, taking into consideration the user needs and outcomes we want to achieve. This role is a unique opportunity to develop your product skills and technical knowledge at a significant scale. By building a platform that enables our engineers to deliver new features with high quality even faster, your contributions will have a major impact on Wise’s mission.

We want our APMs (Associate Product Managers) to keep a laser focus on one or two teams at a time, then move on and gain experience across a wide cross section of the Platform Tribe in the long term. This kind of experience and exposure is hard to find at such a rapidly scaling business and technology stack.

This role will partner with teams in our Reliability Squad, focusing on how we can optimise the observability of our systems. The successful candidate will be required to manage and balance competing priorities, including cost, reliability, performance, risk, governance, and user experience.

We want our APMs to have strong ownership. We empower our APMs to determine the biggest problems to solve and the best ways to solve them. You will be part of a wider team of Platform Product Managers, applying your product expertise to ensure your engineering team is consistently pursuing the most impactful opportunities.

How we work

We take pride in our unique approach to work. Our teams are empowered to tackle the most pressing and important challenges they identify for our customers. This requires product managers to deeply understand the Wise mission and apply it specifically to their area. Everyone shares the responsibility for Wise’s success. We empower team members to make decisions and take ownership of their work processes.

What you will be working on

  • Your mission is to partner with our reliability engineering teams to build world-class products for our internal users.

  • Work with a broad range of technologies to find and deliver improvements that have real mission impact.

  • Identify and unlock opportunities across SRE, Observability, and Developer Experience.

  • Collaborate with many different functions across Wise to gather, understand and translate user needs into reliable, scaleable, performant and efficient platform services.

  • Communicate critical insights by analysing and connecting your hypothesis to data.

Qualifications

We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you!

What you need:

  • 1-2 years experience in technical product management or similar (software engineering, analytics, data science)

  • Good understanding of modern software development, technical resilience, DevOps and the software development life cycle required.

  • Strong ability to translate platform and technology opportunities into business impact for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Use analytical and customer insights to learn about problems and understand how to scope and measure the impact of potential changes.

  • Able to clearly articulate a problem, work with engineers to define a solution and follow it through to completion.

  • Expose and assess the various trade-offs when prioritising work and creating a roadmap.

  • Have experience working cross-functionally and driving culture change across an organisation

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, influence without authority, and secure buy-in for your plans from the broader organization.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in Platform engineering

  • Experience in the reliability domain

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure
