The role

As the Assistant Payroll Manager, reporting to the Global Payroll Manager, you will have a challenging and varied role in managing our payroll operations across EMEA. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead all aspects of both UK and international payroll processing, ensuring flawless and timely payroll for approximately 1,800 UK and 30 international employees. You will work closely with managed service payroll providers to manage pay, maintain compliance and deliver excellent service.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an in-house expert on payroll matters, providing advice on pay, tax, social security, pensions, and deductions.
  • Coordinate and manage the payroll process from data entry to reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payroll legislation.
  • Coordinate pension and benefits processing, ensuring compliance with the Pensions Regulator.
  • Provide timely responses to employee payroll and pension queries, maintaining a high standard of integrity.
  • Serve as the point of contact for customer and partner concerns regarding payroll-related issues, working closely with HR, Finance, and payroll providers.
  • Lead and mentor the Payroll & Benefits Administrator, conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve service delivery.
  • Keep process documentation up to date, including annual payroll calendars with payroll providers and the global payroll calendar.
  • Participate in payroll system projects, including the development of an integrated payroll-HR database, and manage external audit requests as required.

Key skills

  • Extensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and applying payroll rules and regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and payroll systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of GPP schemes and pension administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex payroll data effectively.
  • Working knowledge of ADP iHCM and Workday is desirable.
  • Experience in benefits administration and pension schemes is advantageous.
  • Background in a media or digital environment is a plus.
