As a Vice President, Assistant General Counsel on the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Alternatives Legal team, you will support our alternative investment platform in Luxembourg. The Alternatives business manages strategies across the alternative investment spectrum, including real estate, private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and transportation. The role includes both the creation of new funds and the maintenance of existing funds domiciled in Luxembourg and/or distributed across Europe. You will utilise your expertise in understanding the regulatory environment for AIFMs and impacting AIFs, and in-depth knowledge of fund establishment and investment management legal issues, including market practices in Luxembourg.

  Job Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to JPMorgan Asset Management’s activities in Luxembourg with a focus on issues impacting AIFMs and AIFs including monitoring and advising on relevant legal and regulatory developments.
  • Provide legal support and advice across private funds, registered alternative investment funds (ELTIFs) and other products that relate to Alternatives strategies.
  • Advise the business on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues relevant to the formation, structuring, management and distribution of fund products in Luxembourg and across Europe.
  • Work closely with other members of the Legal Department and other control functions (e.g., Compliance, Risk) both within Europe and globally to identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with professionals across Legal, Compliance, and Risk functions. 
  • Participate in business committees and collaborate with colleagues across product strategy and development, finance, marketing, portfolio management, Compliance, Risk, and the Legal Department. 
  • Oversee and manage outside counsel efficiently.     
  • Coordinate as needed with other divisions of Asset & Wealth Management.
  • Provide legal support for special projects and cross-Alternatives initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure high-quality legal support for the business.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree, Juris Doctor or equivalent.
  • Strong post-qualification experience in a firm, financial institution or comparable experience.
  • Indepth knowledge of Luxembourg and European investment management legal issues, including pertinent regulations and guidance on investment advisory issues relating to alternatives products.
  • Strong understanding of private fund formation and private fund structures.
  • Willingness to develop knowledge of new fund structures, investment products, asset classes, lines of business, and areas of law.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organisational skills, with proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor to senior business partners and clients.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritise multiple projects, and manage competing deadlines effectively.
  • Proactive, responsive, and dynamic team player with a solutions-oriented mindset and strong leadership qualities.
