The Role

The role will be based in Newcastle and report to the Head of Systems & Controls, General Counsel & Risk, based in London.

The GC & Risk team handles a wide range risk and compliance queries concerning conflicts of interest, client due diligence and client contracting. This role plays a specialised part of that team, by acting as an expert with respect to our Practice Management and Intapp Open systems, and answering a wide range of everyday queries from within our business.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Provide essential support to our New Business team, by investigating and addressing systems issues concerning our Intapp Open, SAP and other systems, and promoting technical best practice.
  • Liaise with Finance colleagues and lawyers regarding the status of new business requests (in our Intapp Open system) and escalate to colleagues where appropriate.
  • Help maintain our General Counsel & Risk function’s email inbox, by answering frequent queries, gathering information and escalating or redirecting issues as appropriate.
  • Draft and manage our Team’s New Business Lawyer Rota, to ensure fair and balanced lawyer availability for team escalations.
  • Provide general administrative, data and systems-related support to the GC and Risk function, as required.
  • Complete and coordinate client questionnaires about our business, in conjunction with other business service functions.
  • Any other ad-hoc tasks or projects that might be required

Key Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience working in a business, legal or related professional services firm
  • An interest in Risk and Compliance and Risk & Compliance software and systems
  • Excellent IT skills and a willingness to learn and use a variety of practice management
  • database and online software tools
  • Research and critical-thinking skills
  • Customer service mindset
  • Organisational skills and ability to prioritise different work streams
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Accuracy and an eye for detail
