Senior Client Lead – Application Transformation

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior client-facing leader to help shape, sell, and deliver complex Application Transformation engagements for enterprise clients. The individual will combine strategic consulting capability with deep hands-on experience in application migration, modernization, and technical debt remediation.

The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging with CIOs, CTOs, Enterprise Architects, and business stakeholders to define transformation roadmaps, build compelling business cases, and lead multidisciplinary teams through delivery.

This role requires someone who understands that successful application transformation extends beyond technology. They must appreciate the impact on end users, operational processes, support models, and the broader business change journey required to achieve sustainable outcomes.


Key ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement & Advisory
  • Lead executive-level conversations with CIO, CTO, and technology leadership teams.
  • Identify, qualify, and shape Application Transformation opportunities.
  • Translate business challenges into pragmatic transformation strategies and delivery roadmaps.
  • Conduct technology assessments, discovery workshops, and modernization reviews.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Develop business cases and transformation plans aligned to client objectives.
Application Transformation Leadership
  • Lead assessments of complex application portfolios and technology estates.
  • Define and execute application modernization and migration strategies.
  • Apply industry frameworks such as the 7Rs (Retain, Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Retire, Relocate).
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, rationalise, decommission, modernise, or migrate applications.
  • Provide oversight of cloud migration, application refactoring, containerisation, and legacy modernisation initiatives.
  • Shape transformation programmes from initial discovery through implementation and transition to BAU operations.
Technical Debt Remediation
  • Assess technical debt across applications, infrastructure, integrations, and operational services.
  • Develop actionable remediation roadmaps balancing business value, risk reduction, cost, and delivery constraints.
  • Identify obsolete technologies, unsupported platforms, architectural weaknesses, and operational bottlenecks.
  • Advise clients on prioritisation and investment decisions to improve resilience, agility, and total cost of ownership.

Business Change & User Adoption
  • Assess the impact of technology change on users, support teams, and operational processes.
  • Ensure transformation initiatives include organisational readiness, communication, training, and adoption planning.
  • Work closely with Change Managers, Business Analysts, and Operational Leaders to embed new ways of working.
  • Consider support models, operating procedures, and service management implications when defining transformation approaches.
  • Ensure technology decisions are aligned with business outcomes and end-user needs.
Delivery Leadership
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams including architects, consultants, developers, engineers, analysts, and change specialists.
  • Manage engagement governance, risks, dependencies, quality, and stakeholder communications.
  • Provide executive reporting and steer client decision-making throughout delivery.
  • Support capability development, thought leadership, proposition creation, and mentoring of consultants.
Required Experience
  • 10+ years of experience delivering large-scale technology transformation programmes.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise application migration and modernization engagements.
  • Hands-on experience with application assessment, migration planning, portfolio rationalisation, and cloud transformation.
  • Strong understanding of technical debt identification, quantification, and remediation.
  • Experience working across legacy, cloud-native, hybrid, and distributed application environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior executive stakeholders.
  • Experience developing transformation business cases, roadmaps, and operating models.
  • Strong understanding of programme governance, risk management, and delivery methodologies.
  • Experience leading business change activities associated with technology transformation.
