SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, working with clients to help make sustainability happen, within a collaborative, people‑first culture.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Air Quality Consultant to join our established UK Air Quality team, delivering high‑profile air quality assessments and permitting/planning support projects.

Based in London, the role will focus primarily on air quality assessment and dispersion modelling, with additional exposure to odour assessment, industrial emissions work and multi‑sector project delivery, as well as a small amount of other multi‑disciplinary work spanning Built Environment, Industry, Infrastructure, Mining & Minerals.

The Role

You’ll lead the delivery of air quality assessment projects from planning through to detailed reporting, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The role includes:

  • Project and technical leadership – delivering air quality assessments using dispersion modelling tools for road traffic and industrial sources
  • Client management and proposal support – liaising with clients, supporting bids, preparing technical reports and contributing to business development
  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced consultants – supporting team capability and contributing to a collaborative learning environment
  • Desk‑based work alongside site visits across the UK and Ireland – including data collection, site reviews and engagement with regulators

You’ll collaborate with colleagues across Environmental and Earth Sciences, Planning, ESIA and Engineering, along with Global Advisory, on complex and impactful projects, with opportunities for European and international exposure.

Our flexible benefits & reward package includes:

  • Competitive salary with discretionary bonus
  • Company pension
  • Private medical insurance
  • Life, income, and travel insurance
  • Salary sacrifice car lease and cycle‑to‑work schemes

We believe sustainable careers need balance, so we offer:

  • Flexible, hybrid and agile working
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus flexible public holidays
  • Buy or sell leave options
  • Core working hours
  • Cross‑border remote working and sabbatical opportunities

Family life and wellbeing matter at SLR:

We provide enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave, access to an Employee Assistance Programme, and specialist support for mental health, stress and menopause—supporting our people both professionally and personally.

About You

You’ll bring:

  • Air Quality Consultancy experience, ideally across multiple sectors
  • Technical capability to undertake traffic emissions dispersion modelling (e.g. ADMS Roads, LAQM tools, verification, relevant guidance and policy)
  • Experience of odour assessment and industrial emissions (desirable)
  • Experience liaising with clients, regulators and other consultants
  • Strong technical reporting and problem‑solving skills
  • A full driving licence valid in the UK
