Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) is a global function within Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED).
As a team member in the Prediction Modelling (PM) group of PS, you will work in close collaboration with pharmacometricians, clinical data scientists, and other experts in pRED, utilizing advanced computational and analytical tools to support drug development. You will apply cutting-edge methodologies in data science and predictive modeling, gaining valuable insights from leaders in the field to drive innovation in therapeutic discovery and development.The opportunity:We are seeking an AI Scientist to develop and implement coding agents that automate data wrangling and manipulation specifically for clinical data in CDISC format. This project aims to significantly streamline data processing, enhance data quality, and accelerate insights generation, thereby playing a pivotal role in advancing our clinical development processes.
- Develop and deploy AI-powered coding agents to automate data wrangling, transformation, and validation of clinical data in CDISC format.
- Implement and optimize LLM-based agent workflows to efficiently extract, clean, and standardize clinical data.
- Design and build automated pipelines to enhance data analysis, reporting, and modeling for clinical and pre-clinical trials.
- Create automated workflows for generating modeling reports and ensuring data quality control throughout the process.
- Collaborate with pharmacometricians, disease modelers, pre-clinical modelers and data scientists to integrate automated pipelines into existing model development and reporting workflows.
- Establish and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and best practices for using coding agents in clinical data management and analysis.
Who you are:
- You have an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- You have 2+ years of industry experience in machine learning, automation engineering, and data manipulation, preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- You have a proven track record in software development, particularly in developing and deploying machine learning models, including LLMs, in production environments. Experience with clinical data and CDISC standards is highly desirable.
- You possess strong programming skills in Python and/or R, and have experience with Machine Learning/Deep Learning algorithms, frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), multiple data modalities (e.g., relational DB, images, free-form texts), NLP, clustered compute environments, and proficiency with productivity toolchains.
- You have a solid understanding of clinical development processes, scientific, clinical, operational, and organizational data life cycles, and the digital landscape in the Pharma/Biotech industry. You also have knowledge of automation technologies, including robotics, instrumentation, or workflow optimization.
- You have strong problem-solving and communication skills, experience collaborating with external scientific partners, and a passion for innovation in machine learning and automation, with a commitment to continuously staying up-to-date with the latest advancements. You can develop and maintain reusable code libraries and documentation.
- You are a proactive problem-solver with a keen attention to detail and data quality.
- You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to contribute to a dynamic team.
