The role

What will you be doing?

We're looking for a qualified actuary to join Unum as an Actuarial Reporting Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build experience across Solvency II, UK GAAP and US GAAP reporting, while also gaining exposure to the broader financial management of the business through capital forecasting, dividend activities and supporting the delivery of wider initiatives (e.g. Part VII transfer, model changes).
You'll have the chance to own key pieces of work, lead process improvements and drive change within the team. The role offers regular interaction with senior stakeholders, providing a platform to develop your communication and influencing skills, while also supporting and mentoring more junior colleagues as part of a collaborative team environment.
For someone looking to combine technical actuarial expertise with business impact and visibility, this role offers an excellent next step.
○ Lead and manage actuarial reporting activities, including Solvency II balance sheet, P&L results, monthly reporting and regulatory submissions.
○ Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, providing clear, concise financial insights and technical guidance.
○ Communicate complex actuarial concepts in a clear and engaging way to both technical and non-technical audiences.
○ Coach and mentor actuarial trainees, supporting their development and contributing to a high-performing team culture.
○ Champion innovation in actuarial systems and reporting methodologies, helping us evolve and improve how we work.
○ Own change activity supporting the wider transformation of the Finance Function.

What will you bring?

○ A qualified actuary with strong experience. We are open to candidates from all backgrounds, including Life, GI and Pensions, as well as those who have recently qualified.
○ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data into business narratives.
○ Strong stakeholder management skills and a collaborative approach to cross-functional working.
○ A keen interest in finance transformation and process improvement.
○ High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and expert-level Excel proficiency.
○ Experience with actuarial systems, such as RAFM or Unify, would be a plus.

Location

Hybrid working. You'll spend 3 days a week in the office and 2 days working from home. Of the office-based days, at least 1 is in Dorking and the other 2 can be in Dorking, London or Basingstoke

Benefits

○ Generous bonus scheme
○ Private Medical Insurance
○ Defined Contribution pension scheme
○ Life assurance, medical and income protection insurance
○ Access to remote GP services, nutrition coaching, personal training, unlimited mental health support, and medical second opinions
○ 27 days holiday, with the option to buy or sell up to 5 additional days (plus Bank Holidays)
○ Salary sacrifice electric vehicle scheme with on-site charging facilities

○ Dorking office: Restaurant, Gym, Tennis Courts, Free Shuttle Bus from Train Station
