Job Description

OVERVIEW

CAA Stellar is a world-leading sports agency and a global leader in football management, managing the careers of hundreds of elite athletes across the UK and internationally. We operate a "total management" model that blends data analytics, contract negotiations, and commercial partnerships to support champions on and off the pitch. Our small, fast-paced finance team is looking for a handy, high-energy Accounts Assistant who can hit the ground running. The position reports directly to the Financial Controller but works closely alongside the Management Accountant. We need a proactive, self-reliant individual who is happy to crack on with tasks independently, take real ownership of their workload, and comfortably navigate everything from daily transactions to international compliance.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain broad exposure to a varied accounting role, develop their skills and experience across different areas of finance, and progress towards an Assistant Accountant position in the future.

This role would be well suited to someone who has some prior experience working within a football club, sports agency, talent management business or similar fast-paced environment, and understands the pace, confidentiality and deadlines that come with the industry.

The role is based at our Mayfair office, with an expectation of working in the office three days a week. The team also has access to the New Cavendish Street office, which can be used on an ad hoc basis.

  • Teaming up with the Management Accountant to get the month-end books closed off on time.

  • Taking care of daily bank postings and keeping our bank reconciliations up to date.

  • Preparing and posting routine journals, including prepayments, accruals, and lease journals, ready for review.

  • Prepping trial balances from our overseas entities and uploading them as journals into SAP.

  • Supporting the reconciliation of specific balance sheet accounts, taking ownership of agreed accounts as experience develops..

  • Looking after intercompany accounts between us and other CAA entities, tracking down any mismatches.

  • Helping pull together data and drafting our quarterly VAT returns, including running a monthly VAT review.

  • Supporting the day-to-day management of ledgers and local compliance requirements for our European entities.

  • Preparing schedules and appropriate reconciliations,  providing  general support  for the year-end audit.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • AAT Level 2 or 3, bookkeeping/accounting qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Actively studying towards a recognised qualification e.g. ACCA.

  • 1–2 years’ experience in a finance or accounts environment, with exposure to day-to-day transaction processing and general accounting tasks.

  • A good understanding of basic double-entry bookkeeping and an interest in developing a broader understanding of accounting and financial processes.

  • Some experience preparing VAT returns, together with a basic understanding of VAT principles and processes. Experience or exposure to VAT requirements in European countries would be an advantage.

  • Organised, proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks while knowing when to seek guidance or support.

  • Experience using an accounting system or ERP software. Confidence with posting transactions, journals and performing basic reconciliations is desirable. SAP S/4HANA experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

  • Good Excel skills, with the ability to work confidently with spreadsheets. Experience with VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables would be beneficial.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.

  • A positive, collaborative and can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn and develop within a small finance team
