German Accounting & Tax Manager - 6 Months Fixed-Term Contract

We're looking for an experienced German Accounting & Tax Manager to join our finance team during an exciting period of transformation and growth. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong accounting and tax professional who enjoys combining strategic oversight with hands-on leadership and problem-solving.

In this role, you'll take ownership of statutory accounting, tax compliance, and reporting for our German entities while partnering with colleagues across Europe and the wider global business. You'll play a key role in ensuring financial integrity, driving continuous improvement, and supporting critical finance initiatives.

What you'll achieve

Lead German statutory accounting and reporting

  • Own the preparation of annual statutory financial statements for our German entities
  • Lead and support a team of General Ledger Accountants, helping them deliver high-quality results
  • Partner with our outsourced accounting provider to resolve complex issues and improve processes
  • Manage annual external audits and ensure the smooth delivery of all reporting requirements
  • Oversee month-end close activities, journal approvals, and financial statement reviews
  • Act as the key escalation point for accounting-related queries across the business

Drive tax compliance and advisor relationships

  • Coordinate German corporate income tax filings with external advisers
  • Support tax audits across corporate tax, VAT, and property tax
  • Build strong relationships with tax authorities and external partners
  • Ensure compliance with withholding tax requirements and reporting obligations
  • Support IFRS tax reporting, including current and deferred tax provisions
  • Lead monthly tax reconciliation activities and identify opportunities for improvement

Support strategic finance projects

  • Help implement and maintain transfer pricing arrangements
  • Monitor tax and regulatory developments, ensuring the business remains compliant
  • Support treasury activities, including payment reviews and cash repatriation initiatives
  • Act as Finance Lead for key projects, including banking migration activities and user acceptance testing

Qualifications

What we're looking for

You'll be a qualified accounting or tax professional with strong knowledge of German statutory accounting and tax regulations. Just as importantly, you'll enjoy collaborating with others, solving complex challenges, and driving improvements that make a real difference.

You'll bring

  • Strong experience in German accounting, statutory reporting, and tax compliance
  • A solid understanding of IFRS and German GAAP
  • Experience working with external auditors and tax advisers
  • Previous people leadership or mentoring experience
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A proactive mindset and a passion for continuous improvement
  • Fluency in both German and English.
