Role summary

Join our collaborative sales team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute as an Account Manager. You will increase revenue and build lasting relationships with customers while representing our comprehensive portfolio of scientific products and services. Working in a supportive environment that values achievement and innovation, you'll help enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

This is a remote position, covering the central Benelux region. Please note that the ideal candidate must be located in South Netherlands or the Northern part of Belgium (near Antwerpen) to effectively cover the territory.

Your responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic and tactical sales plan for your specified territory to ensure revenue and gross margin objectives are achieved or exceeded
  • Work to drive specific product sales, to support supplier partnerships and actively promote core products and advantageous services
  • Effectively communicate the segment specific Fisher Scientific value proposition to key customers
  • Increase regional service revenue by effectively leading the sales process for service offerings. Clearly communicate to customers the value proposition and differentiation of Thermo Fisher as the preferred provider
  • Effectively demonstrate the strengths and breadth of the organization by building and maintaining an effective network of connections within the organization to strengthen selling opportunities
  • Improve selling time and efficiently delegate non sales related activities
  • Build and sustain robust customer relationships to foster business development through detailed meetings with end users and purchasing contacts
  • Lead pricing within territory to optimize profitability
  • Maintain a high level of business knowledge relevant to the region, including competitor activity
  • Research competitor and industry activity and keep informed of new products/services and other general information of interest to customers incorporating this data in the business plan
  • Brings new solutions to the customer to generate revenue from new products or services
  • Achieve or exceed sales and margin targets for your designated territory
  • Update reporting tools to the business on customers, competitor activity, promotions etc., to agreed timescales and in agreed format as guided by your Regional Segment Manager
  • Work closely with fellow sales team members to build the best customer experience
  • Implement account strategies for Program Accounts as communicated by Key Account Managers and for Non-Program accounts as determined by you and your Manager
  • Proactively identify and satisfy customer requirements and meet the needs of valued business opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, transacting improved terms whenever possible to enhance the company's profitability
  • Leverage SalesForce.com and company tools to develop the territory plan pipeline and optimize territory coverage and ensure that standard processes for sales tasks are followed
  • Complete all elements of personal administration including, personal expenses and mileage capture for company car drivers. Ensure detail is accurate, and in line with company procedures and on time
  • Set the tone for the team and office, display role model leadership behaviors and support junior colleagues
  • Proactively look for opportunities for self-development utilizing all available training
  • Use PPI principles to find a better way every day and run simple projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in the sciences or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology or related scientific field
  • Technical knowledge and ability to understand customer applications and workflows
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain customer relationships at all levels
  • Confident personality, able to effectively engage with all customers in a variety of settings including one-to-one meetings, exhibitions and formal presentations, across all sectors in which we operate
  • This Role operates within a Matrix environment requiring the post holder to work effectively with multiple partners, to lead both competing requirements and concurrent project activity
  • Good organizational/teamwork, time management, communication, presentation, strategic selling and negotiating skills
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) and MS Office suite
  • Analytical and strategic planning capabilities
  • Results-oriented with demonstrated success in achieving sales targets
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a matrix environment
  • Full driver's license and thrive travelling (up to 80% of time) to customer locations and attend regional as well as national meetings
  • Written and spoken Dutch & English skills
