Want to do work that really matters?
At Checkatrade, we’re building the UK’s go-to home improvement marketplace. Every day, we help millions of homeowners find the
right tradesperson for the job, fast, fair, and without the faff.

As an Account Executive at Checkatrade, you will be instrumental in expanding our trade base across different regions and categories. This role is focused on new trade acquisition, requiring you to proactively identify high-potential businesses and guide them through the entire journey, from initial outreach to deal closure. You'll operate at the heart of our GTM (Go-To-Market) department within the Strategic Growth team, with significant strategic impact.

Forget long lists, here’s what you’ll actually spend your time on:

  • Driving revenue growth by acquiring new small and medium trade businesses: This involves identifying high-potential trades, building compelling proposals that address their specific needs, negotiating contract terms, and ensuring a smooth transition to our onboarding team.

  • Conducting in-depth market analysis: You'll leverage data-driven insights to determine Checkatrade's overall market penetration and competitive positioning, identifying new opportunities and gaps within categories.

  • Engaging in cross-functional collaboration: You'll work closely with Account Management, Vetting, Product, and Operations to assess regions and categories that can benefit most from our product offerings.

  • Building comprehensive product knowledge: You'll become an expert across our diverse product suite, tailoring business cases and proposals to fit the unique requirements of each prospect.

  • Managing the full outbound sales cycle: From initial prospecting and lead qualification to proposal development, negotiation, and closing deals.

This role requires a proactive approach, strategic thinking, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a test-and-learn environment.

It’s not about ticking every box. It’s about turning up curious, ready to crack on. You’ll do well here if you bring:

We're looking for an individual who is not just looking for a job, but a pivotal next step in their career.

  • Good experience of commercial and new sales experience in similar markets or industries, with a strong emphasis on outbound acquisition.

  • Proven expertise in identifying potential new clients, developing tailored proposals, and a demonstrable track record in achieving revenue targets using effective commercial techniques.

  • Exceptional communication skills to build strong, trusting relationships with tradespeople and collaborate effectively with internal teams.

  • Capable of managing cross-functional responsibilities and initiatives, continuously improving ways of working and contributing innovative ideas to brainstorming sessions with the team.

  • Experienced in customer relationship building, with strong communication skills whether engaging digitally or in-person.

  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce), outbound outreach tools, and an understanding of AI optimization tools.

  • Tenacity, motivation, and resilience are crucial to thrive in our dynamic test & learn environment.

We believe great work deserves great rewards. Here’s just a taste:

  • Competitive salary + commission

  • Health, well-being and learning support

  • Gym membership, Smart Tech Scheme and Cycle Scheme

  • Birthday/Special day leave

  • Buy & sell holiday scheme

  • 1 week’s paid charity leave and much more!

How we’ll get to know each other:

  • Screening call with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners

  • 1st stage interview with our Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy & Sales

  • 2nd Stage interview with our Category Principal and Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy & Sales

If you require any reasonable adjustments during our interview process, please discuss them with your Talent Acquisition Partner.

If this sounds like the place where you can do your best work, we’d love to hear from you, even if you don’t tick every box
