Job Description

Purpose of the role

To provide SME expertise to assess risks in a client's receivables and other asset classes, maintenance of bank's security, and contribution to the overall success of the sales function and relationship management functions. 

Accountabilities

  • SME expertise to assess risks in a client's receivables and other asset classes and maintenance of the bank's security. Assessment of a client's systems and credit control capabilities. Assessment of a client's contract and sales terms.
  • Preparation of survey and audit findings for the sales and relationship management functions.
  • Management of customer information and enquiry/issue resolutions, including the tracking of customer interactions, and accurate maintenance of customer records and detailed analysis.
  • Coordination with various internal departments, such as sales, risk, legal, and compliance, to ensure execution of sales processes and timely delivery of products or services to customers.
  • Market research for identification of potential risks, strategies, and competitive intelligence to support sales strategies and initiatives with regards facility security.

They will identify new directions for assignments and/ or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

Join us as an ABC Assessor, where you will play a critical role in assessing and safeguarding the quality of sales financing facilities across our Larger Business and SME client base. You will undertake initial surveys for prospective clients and ongoing audits for existing clients, evaluating business operations, systems and key personnel to determine the security and collectability of book debts.

You will work closely with Origination, Client Support and Wholesale Credit Risk teams, providing clear, insight‑led recommendations on product structure, advance levels and key covenants. Through robust analysis, effective stakeholder engagement and the use of digital tools, you will help mitigate risk, support informed decision‑making and contribute to continuous improvement across the Trade & Working Capital function.

Due to the nature of client coverage, the successful candidate must be based within the North Midlands corridor, including South Manchester and South Yorkshire, with the ability to travel to client sites as required.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive prior audit, survey and field assessment experience within the Invoice Discounting industry.
  • Experience in auditing Asset‑Based Lending (ABL) facilities.
  • Previous on‑site auditing or surveying experience, including risk management and trend monitoring.
  • Well‑developed analytical capability, with experience managing and interpreting large volumes of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Invoice Discounting and Asset‑Based Lending (ABL) products.

Desirable skills include:

  • UK Finance Certificate or Diploma.
  • Hands‑on experience within Invoice Discounting and ABL environments.
  • Experience investigating risk alerts and validating data inputs, outputs and controls.
  • Exposure to digital initiatives or process improvement within a risk or credit environment.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology capability, in addition to job‑specific technical expertise.
