Manage a caseload of sensitive, high-risk fitness-to-practise cases; provide specialist legal advice on regulatory concerns and case law; scope and oversee investigations; collate evidence and prepare disclosures; liaise with internal and external senior stakeholders; instruct and manage external firms; supervise and develop junior staff; support improvements to processes and work with inquests and public inquiries.

Support NMC external affairs by building and managing stakeholder relationships across UK health and care, advising senior leaders, delivering public affairs outputs, managing stakeholder programmes and projects, and influencing policy across devolved administrations.

Provide legal advice and prepare and present fitness-to-practice hearings before NMC practice committees and courts. Draft applications for higher courts, manage multiple sensitive cases, ensure high-quality, person-centred adjudication, and collaborate with internal teams.

Lead a legal team providing expert advice on complex fitness to practise cases, including criminal investigations, inquests and media issues. Ensure consistent, proportionate legal advice, supervise quality assurance, engage stakeholders, contribute to strategy, training and continuous improvement to protect the public and support regulatory decision-making.

Provide legal case preparation and advocacy for Fitness to Practise committees, manage High Court interim order applications and appeals across UK jurisdictions, advise on registrant and PSA appeals, mentor junior lawyers/paralegals, and contribute to robust regulatory decision-making.
