The role involves sensitive fitness-to-practise material and collaboration with specialist teams including safeguarding and information security.

Coordinates fitness-to-practise hearings for the Nursing and Midwifery Council, managing participants, maintaining orderly and fair proceedings, supporting panels and legal representatives, and drafting formal written outcomes. The role is public-facing and high-stakes, requiring clear communication, composure, collaboration, and attention to statutory and regulatory requirements. Previous experience in hearings, tribunals, regulation, governance, or legal environments is helpful but not essential.

Supports nursing and midwifery professionals, particularly vulnerable or unrepresented registrants, in navigating formal regulatory and fitness-to-practise processes. Provides guidance, direct engagement, stakeholder support, and advice on barriers to participation. Contributes to trauma-informed, safeguarding-focused practice, training, guidance, and continuous service improvement while promoting fair, inclusive, and values-based regulation.

Assess and manage sensitive intelligence from whistleblowing, safeguarding, regulatory, and stakeholder sources. Analyze information to identify risks, trends, themes, and emerging issues; produce intelligence reports, briefings, and assessments; build relationships with internal and external stakeholders; support intelligence sharing and process improvement; and uphold confidentiality, governance, and data protection requirements to support public protection.
