Develops multi-threaded systems, data ingestion APIs, and backend components, collaborates on core database features, and occasionally creates connector frontends. The role involves technologies including Kafka, Spark, Beam, Kubernetes, and cloud data platforms.

Conduct research and end-to-end development of Aurendil, a next-generation graph database runtime. Responsibilities span theoretical design, query language and database architecture, implementation, system evaluation, and communicating findings to Neo4j product teams and the academic research community. The role targets post-doctoral researchers with systems research backgrounds in databases, compilers, programming languages, parallel or distributed computing, managed runtimes, or hardware acceleration.

As a Software Engineer for Core Database at Neo4j, you will develop and improve the graph database features, focusing on system design, data structures, and algorithms while working collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Develop and enhance Neo4j's core network server modules and drivers, design and implement features for the Bolt and HTTP protocols, collaborate with product managers and stakeholders on protocol direction, and contribute to community outreach such as blog posts and training.

Design and implement cloud-native security controls and guardrails across Azure/AWS/GCP and managed Kubernetes clusters. Improve product security in the SDLC by building secure infrastructure-as-code, admission controls, secrets management, and observability. Design, build, operate and improve Neo4j Aura's core cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure across AWS, GCP and Azure. Develop tools, automation, and IaC, troubleshoot production Kubernetes, networking, compute, storage and logging, and support a 24/7 managed service at scale.

Design, develop, and maintain cloud networking foundations for Neo4j Aura. Collaborate across teams to scale global cloud networking, improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability, and operate Kubernetes-based SaaS infrastructure.

Develop and enhance Neo4j Graph Analytics for Snowflake, focusing on SQL-facing APIs, build pipelines, and improving security while collaborating with clients.

Design and implement scalable IAM architecture and tooling for AuraDB. Integrate enterprise SSO providers, implement auth protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, LDAP, MFA), manage lifecycle (SCIM), develop access control models (RBAC/ABAC/PBAC/ReBAC/FGA), enforce least-privilege, apply zero-trust patterns, ensure SOC 2 compliance, mentor engineers, and collaborate across product, security, and infrastructure teams.
