Leads Canonical’s global Legal and Compliance function, advising executives and the Board while building a distributed legal team. Responsibilities include public-market readiness, corporate governance, commercial contracting, intellectual property and open-source licensing, privacy, export controls, anti-bribery, competition and AI regulation. The role also oversees litigation, regulatory engagement, external counsel, M&A, partnerships and financing. It is remote in EMEA time zones, with optional London office work and international travel two to four times annually.

Designs and owns Canonical’s global internal audit function, including audit infrastructure, risk registers, control testing, process walkthroughs, audit programs, reporting, and remediation tracking. The role partners with stakeholders and senior leadership to identify risks, improve controls, and support scalable global operations. It reports to the CFO and Audit Committee and requires international travel two to four times annually.

Manage multi-country payroll operations, compliance, audits, controls, vendor relationships, payroll analysis, and process improvements. Lead payroll system automation and scalability initiatives while ensuring accurate and timely processing across jurisdictions. Partner with finance, HR, treasury, and external providers, monitor regulatory changes, and mentor a global payroll team in a distributed technology environment.
