For over 30 years, the GSMA’s Technology Department has provided technology leadership and standards that ensure mobile networks interwork with each other and with all devices globally. This is done through many specialised Industry Working Groups and other project structures. The fundamental collaboration tool used for all this work is the SharePoint based GSMA Member portal.

Each Working Group is led by a GSMA professional engineer who directs the group and provides subject matter expertise. The specification work is undertaken by volunteers from engineering teams across all the GSMA member companies. There are approximately 1400 GSMA members representing companies from across the world. Membership consists of Mobile Operators, Network Equipment and Device Manufacturers and other organisations supporting the mobile ecosystem.

Working Group Support Team

The Working Group Support Team is a multi-discipline team focused on supporting the technology subject matter experts who lead the GSMA’s Working Groups. Roles for the WGST include:

  • Event scheduling and administration. Ranging from events with a few tens of attendees to multiple thousands
  • Stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth running of multiple meeting schedules
  • Document Management, managing creation, review, approval and publication procedures
  • Knowledge Management on the GSMA Member Portal
  • Assistance with marketing and outreach across multiple channels, in collaboration with a professional marketing team.

Working Group Knowledge Manager

A new hire, that will sit within the Working Group Support Team, who will be expected to:

  • Lead from the front on Document and Content Management for GSMA Working Groups
  • Collaborate with the IT delivery team to identify fixes and improvements that can be implemented in technical solution
  • Manage GSMA document templates across Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and corresponding document style guides
  • Carry out quality reviews of draft documents due to be published for compliance to house style
  • Customise SharePoint sites, pages, web parts, workflows, lists, libraries, and document management features
  • Stay up to date with the latest features of the Microsoft 365 suite, including AI/Copilot and help explore their potential applications

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Hands-on experience in developing/managing a knowledge management function or similar
  • Be familiar with the Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint)
  • Demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter and to initiate change within a department of approximate 100 people
