Workday Functional Consultant – 6 months day rate contract inside IR35

Reporting to the Product Owner

London based – Hybrid

We are looking for a Workday Functional Consultant specialising in HCM Core Optimisation, and at least three other modules who has worked on complex People (HR) transformation programmes to play a pivotal role in the detailed design and implementation of the People Transformation, Process & Technology roadmap.

The Role

Hiscox is a dynamic and innovative organisation. We are on an exciting journey to implement a new People Target Operating Model for our People Function. The People function is going through a significant transformation change which will see a transition to strategic business partnering, supported by Communities of Expertise and an increasingly digitised People Operations team. 

This change will result in a complete transformation of how Hiscox employees and managers interact with the People function, with a shift to direct access of People tools and processes. Therefore, a huge focus will be required to optimisation our technology estate to enable this future state.

Hiscox is seeking a Workday Functional Consultant with extensive experience in the Workday eco-system. The role will interface with key stakeholders and apply functional proficiency including requirements elicitation, design, build, test, and deployment of solutions for Hiscox’s Workday HCM.

The purpose of this role is to deliver on the People Transformation Process & Technology Roadmap. Leveraging previous transformation experience, best practice, and functional expertise to design and deliver solutions that drive the transformation programme objectives and deliver an amazing user experience for the business.

The role will be working closely with the Product Owner, Solution Architecture, in-house HR System Analysts, Business Analysts and stakeholders to deliver targeted outcomes. The role requires strong functional skills and will be expected to deliver hands on configuration, as well as requirments gathering in collaboration with BA’s. This role will be a squad lead providing an expert Workday lens across transformation changes relating to Workday HCM Optimisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure, test, and deploy Workday configuration.
  • Working with the Product Owner, providing input into priorisation and delivery considerations.
  • Acting as an adviser to the business, feasibility checking ideas, enhancements, and initiatives.
  • Provide accurate effort estimations for capacity and project planning.
  • Comfortable running large requirement workshops with global stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the Workday configuration enabling the agreed ‘To Be’ state of HR processes.
  • Providing subject matter expertise and perspectives during workshops in support of the BA’s ensuring the design of suitable solutions for the business, shaping the future state of Hiscox process taxonomy.
  • Be a subject matter expert in Workday HCM Core Optimisation, and at least three other modules inclusive of the following: Recruiting, Absence & Time Tracking, Advanced Comp, Talent & Performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with other systems and processes.

Person Specification:

  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Workday configuration and change implementation.
  • Experience in large scale people transformation programmes, with a focus on optimisation & automaton of processes.
  • Experience working in global organisations. Considering regional nuances but challenging where appropriate to follow our design principle of building global solutions with limited customization where possible.
  • Comprehensive experience across Workdays HCM Core Optimisation and at least three of the following: Recruiting, Absence & Time Tracking, Advanced Comp, Talent & Performance.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, plus confident to present and playback demos to stakeholders, showcasing functionality.
  • Self-organised and methodical, with strong attention to detail
  • Problem-solving skills, with a curiosity and tenacity to resolve issues and challenge stakeholders thinking to transition to best practice.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective Workday configurations.
