Team/Role Overview

This is a pivotal opportunity within Citi’s Services’ Business Execution team for the UK cluster, driving critical initiatives that underpin our strategic priorities and governance commitments. Reporting directly to the UK Cluster Business Execution Head (Director) at VP level, this role is central to ensuring robust governance and robust compliance with the Senior Manager and Certification Regime for UK Services.

The role focuses on three core areas, integral to maintaining Citi’s commitment to accountability and professional conduct for the UK Services franchise:

SMCR Management and Oversight: Lead the management of UK Services' governance in relation to the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR), a critical framework that sets professional conduct standards and enhances accountability within UK financial services. Governance Coordination: Manage governance submissions to key UK forums, ensuring timely and accurate information flow to relevant stakeholders SMCR Documentation & Assurance: Develop and maintain a comprehensive, auditable library of documents and artifacts, demonstrating the rigorous "reasonable steps" undertaken by UK Services Senior Managers (SM) in accordance with regulatory expectations.

You will play a vital role in upholding best-in-class governance for the Services UK Head, coordinating internal governance efforts, and managing submissions to wider UK franchise governance forums. You will have an opportunity to engage with and/or lead wider projects within the Services business execution/business management space (UK specific or global.) Expertise in business management, UK corporate governance and a deep understanding of the Certification Regime and Conduct Rules are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of the team, you will:

  • Ensure SMCR Compliance: Drive and oversee Services' adherence to the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR) framework across UK Services

  • Enhance Governance Frameworks: Continuously evaluate, enhance, and optimize SMCR-linked governance processes and controls

  • Secretarial Functions: Execute essential corporate secretarial duties, including coordinating Services governance meetings, meticulously tracking deliverables, and maintaining a robust, auditable documentation library to evidence "reasonable steps" taken by Senior Managers.

  • Manage Regular Submissions: Coordinate and lead submissions to critical UK Franchise forums, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven Leadership: Ability to work effectively, influence stakeholders, and deliver results within complex, matrixed organizational structures.

  • SMCR Expertise: Specific expertise in the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR)

  • Governance Experience: Demonstrated experience with UK corporate governance practices within a Financial Services firm.

  • Change Management: Proven track record in leading governance and corporate secretarial activities, initiating and driving change and process improvements.

  • Interpersonal & Collaborative Skills: Strong teamwork capabilities and the ability to foster cooperative and collaborative working relationships across diverse groups.

  • Communication & Analytical Acuity: Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills, capable of serving as a clear and effective liaison between various departments and stakeholders.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Project). Ideally an advanced AI user

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree highly desirable.
