A Brief Overview
The VP, International Tax Special Projects leads, manages and is responsible for special projects pertaining to international tax, including the implementation of new global tax regimes to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Provides leadership for tax related compliance for areas of responsibility. As a member of the global tax leadership team, contributes to the establishment of guidelines and directions, provides strategic direction for area of responsibility and broader initiatives and fosters a spirit of cooperation and coordination among all departments. Performs tax planning analysis and research and makes recommendations to the SVP, Global Tax and/or VP, International Tax to minimize tax liability for area of responsibility.
What you will do
Monitor changes in the tax law pertaining to the OECD BEPS initiative (e.g., Pillar 2) and other new global tax regimes; advise management of the impact.
Manage international tax projects including working with external tax advisors to understand relevant rules and the applicability to the company, modeling changes in tax law and leading the team to implement the changes.
Oversees implementation of new global tax regimes, including Pillar 2. Works closely with the Global Tax team to train and provide oversight on the accounting implementation of new global tax regimes. Makes recommendations to minimize the tax impact of Pillar 2, collaborating with relevant stakeholders and external advisors.
Leads and manages work area activities including, but not limited to, team/department workflow, establishing and monitoring quarterly goals, reviewing work completed by direct reports, ensuring timeliness and quality of tax preparation and reports and communication to associates and management.
Develops and maintains relationships with local consultants to lead and manage the consultancy arrangements that RGA has to ensure compliance with new global tax regimes.
Assists with the review of tax returns and other compliance activities pertaining to RGA's international operations, working closely and effectively with other team members with this area of responsibility.
Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.
Manages international tax internal controls with respect to implementation of new global tax regimes and ensures they are properly adhered to for SOX compliance.
Maintains frequent contact with senior management and staff associates in finance to facilitate accomplishment of the company's objectives.
Actively engages in ACLI, study groups, coalitions and lobbying efforts regarding area of responsibility. Collaborates with other team members of the Global Tax leadership team to develop goals, plans, budgets that align with division and company objectives and then manages to those expectations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences with a major in accounting, finance or equivalent experience
Masters degree in tax is a preferred asset
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Minimum of 12 years of tax experience
Minimum of 5 years of international tax experience
5+ Years Supervisory/management experience
5+ Years Public accounting experience preferred
Advanced knowledge of international tax concepts and broad business practices.
Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
Advanced ability to work well within a team and foster teamwork environment.

Compensation Range:
$146,950.00 - $218.950.00 Annual

Compensation Range:
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
