Responsibilities

The Investment Strategy and Risk Management (ISRM) team is responsible for oversight of and input into top-down portfolio construction, portfolio management, advanced analytics, ESG and ODD, to ensure client portfolios appropriately capture the firm’s bottom-up investment recommendations. 

This is a highly visible role which will feature interactions with various parts of the firm, including senior members of our five investment teams and our investor relations team, as well as interactions with clients and prospects. 

The role will be based in London and report to our Head of ISRM based in Chicago.


The primary job responsibilities will include:

  • Working with investment teams to ensure disciplined fund management and ESG integration across a variety of rapidly growing strategies and structures.
  • Working across various internal teams to coordinate the sourcing, maintenance, and usage of investment and ESG-related data.
  • Reviewing and overseeing investment allocations for both fund and direct investments for Adams Street strategies.
  • Monitoring client portfolios across different risk tolerances, investment objectives and phases of the investment life cycle.
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of Adams Street’s ESG framework and monitoring and reporting practices.
  • Contributing to the marketing of all strategies by supporting the marketing and investor relations teams with RFPs and other internal/external ad hoc data requests.
  • Engaging with Adams Street’s active managers on relevant ESG-related topics.
  • Representing the firm in client interactions and at external events.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following personal attributes, experience and competencies:

  • 5-10 years’ experience in an investment-oriented role (private markets experience is desirable).
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (advanced degree and/or CFA designation desirable).
  • Knowledge of portfolio management and responsible/sustainable investment principles.
  • Knowledge of ESG-related regulatory developments, including but not limited to the EU SFDR.
  • Experience in analyzing and reporting investment-related data for investment portfolios as well as ESG-related metrics.
  • Experience working independently to a high standard in delivering tangible project or client-related outcomes.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (knowledge of R, database design, and developing analytical tools are desirable but not essential).
