Join us as a Vice President, Corporate Development

  • Joining our Corporate Development team as a Vice President, you'll advise on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) opportunities for the bank, providing in-house transaction advisory and execution services
  • Undertake a lead role on M&A, investment and partnership transactions and complete analytical assessments of opportunities, with business transformation as a key deliverable
  • Evaluate the overall value of a transaction to the bank, supporting the accountable senior transaction lead and head of team
  • This is an office-first job, so most of your time will be spent on site in our London office
What you'll do

As a Vice President, you’ll take responsibility for ensuring that detailed financial and strategic analysis and due diligence is completed to a high standard and provide appropriate challenge to support and protect the bank’s interests in a transaction. You’ll also provide insights to negotiate transactions on behalf of the bank, using sound judgement and reasoning to deliver optimal outcomes. 

In addition, you’ll be:

  • Providing support on a wide range of transaction assessments spanning both larger, more complex transactions and smaller deals
  • Collaborating across multiple internal and external stakeholder groups and building effective working relationships across the bank and its external advisor network
  • Creating, analysing and evaluating internal papers to see that appropriate financial rigour and reasoning have been applied in the submission, and the business case is aligned with the bank’s strategic priorities 
  • Using your technical and business knowledge to highlight areas where further analysis or detail is required, or points require further emphasis
  • Presenting the analytical outputs, options and conclusions to senior colleagues
  • Leading, monitoring and acting accordingly to make sure that the plan for the transaction and all risks, issues and dependencies are addressed
  • Utilising market and competitor awareness to identify additional options and opportunities for the bank
The skills you'll need

You’ll bring extensive experience from one or more of the following: investment banking (such as M&A advisory or Financial Institution Group teams), a bank's inhouse corporate development team, corporate finance advisory teams or transaction services teams. It's also strongly preferred that you'll be either a qualified chartered accountant or a Level 3 Chartered Financial Analyst.

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Exceptional analytical and financial modelling capabilities, including detailed knowledge of financial accounting principles and valuation methodologies
  • Strategic insight and commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of regulatory capital and accounting standards 
  • An understanding of corporate law and how it affects M&A
