Join us as a Venture & Growth Finance Director

  • You’ll be a primary driver for building the NatWest Venture Banking into a leading provider of Venture Debt financing for high growth UK scale-ups
  • Through maintaining senior client relationships, you’ll position the bank as the partner of choice for high growth VC backed businesses across a variety of sectors.
  • This is an opportunity for you to join an exciting and collaborative team, where you’ll be liaising with different areas of the business to broaden your network and raise your profile in the bank
What you'll do

You’ll maintain an analytical and commercial understanding of customer businesses to identify opportunities for broader product capabilities. Through your use of market knowledge and contacts, you’ll be integral in cultivating new client relationships on time and within budget.

Our clients include high growth innovators who drive transformation and disruption within their verticals and venture capital, and you'll help businesses scale and grow through to their next key milestones, next fundraise or IPO / exit, or through to profitability.

You’ll also be:

  • Leading the origination and execution of Venture Debt transactions for high growth, scale up stage businesses as well as key aspects of business, commercial and financial due diligence
  • Contributing to the build-out of the Venture Debt strategy for the bank through the expansion of an external network of Venture Capital funds, Corporate Venture Capital funds, advisers, and intermediaries, and the internal network of high growth, tech focused relationship managers
  • Developing and maintaining a strong network of partnerships with other areas of the franchise to deliver its capability to clients
  • Making sure transaction structures are profitable for the bank while being competitive, market leading and appropriately documented
  • Managing deal execution processes to make sure that clients, advisers and investors consider us to have the highest standards of execution
  • Coaching and developing junior members of the Venture & Growth Finance team
  • Providing leadership, drive, and support to the wider Venture Banking team
The skills you'll need

It’s important that you have a significant lending experience, along with knowledge of the UK Venture Debt and Venture Capital market. You’ll also need extensive knowledge of, and credibility with, the UK scale-up stage ecosystem and finance market.

In addition, you’ll display good leadership and management experience and will have a track record of working with others to build business success, paired with a background of lending into enterprise software sub-sectors, with proven deal credentials in this area.

We also look for:

  • Experience in external marketing, origination and strategic thinking, with a proven network of Venture Capital, adviser, and customer contacts
  • Strong financial modelling and financial statement analysis experience, as well as strong accounting skills and knowledge
  • Experience of credit underwriting for Venture Debt transactions and lending to pre-profit businesses
  • Proven people management ability, delivering results through others
  • A practical understanding and application of risk management disciplines
  • The ability to deliver stretching financial targets
