Leads VAT and indirect tax data transformation across systems and jurisdictions. Defines VAT logic, data requirements, specifications, and testing strategies; maps and validates data flows; translates tax rules into ETL and integration logic; investigates discrepancies and defects; supports unit, SIT, and UAT testing; documents business rules and data models; and assists with deployment, production support, and stakeholder collaboration.
This is a remote position.
As a VAT Tech Lead, you will play a critical role in supporting the design, validation, and transformation of VAT and indirect tax data across multiple systems and jurisdictions. You will work closely with Tax, Technology, Finance, Data, and Operations teams to ensure accurate VAT determination, robust data flows, and compliance with complex functional VAT rules.
This role requires deep VAT functional expertise combined with strong analytical, data interpretation, problem-solving, and documentation skills. You will be responsible for translating VAT requirements into actionable data logic, validating system-generated VAT outcomes, identifying defects, and contributing to enhancements for end-to-end VAT processing and reporting.
- Work within cross-functional teams to deliver VAT and indirect tax data/system enhancements
- Define VAT logic, data requirements, and testing approaches aligned with FDDs
- Analyse, map, and validate VAT data flows; identify discrepancies and data quality issues
- Translate VAT rules into data logic for ETL, transformations, and integrations
- Validate system-generated VAT outcomes across multiple jurisdictions
- Provide functional VAT specifications and support development teams
- Define test strategies; execute unit, SIT, and UAT cycles
- Document VAT data models, business rules, and technical specifications
- Support BAU teams for deployment, post-go-live validation, and issue resolution
Requirements Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in VAT/indirect tax across multiple jurisdictions
- Ability to analyse large datasets and resolve VAT/data discrepancies
- Experience translating VAT requirements into data logic and integrations
- Good understanding of finance systems (Oracle/in-house) and VAT processing
- Experience in writing functional/technical specifications
- Knowledge of ETL processes, interfaces, and data transformations
- Experience across full project lifecycle (requirements, testing, UAT, defect management)
- Skilled in test planning, scripting, and VAT validation
- Strong communication with Tax, Finance, Tech, and Ops stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with experience in VAT enhancements and production support
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with VAT data
- Analytical mindset to interpret complex VAT requirements
- Clear communicator for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Well-organised; able to manage multiple priorities
