We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior UX Researcher to lead the introduction of UXR and UX ways of working into Ocado Logistics Technology. The working team will consist of UX Researcher, UX Designer, Product Analyst and Product Manager.
This is a permanent opportunity, based at our Hatfield head office. (hybrid working)

You will have the opportunity to lead the research of our brand new fleet system which is used to manage our portfolio of over 1,700 vans, trucks and trailers. Alongside this, you will have the opportunity to get involved with researching/designing of other processes, solutions, systems and tools essential for Ocado Logistics to deliver unrivalled user experience to our customers and partners.
Role Responsibilities 

  • Have a flexible delivery focussed approach and liaise with UX Lead / Product Manager to understand and align effort with roadmap objectives/deadlines and UX priorities
  • Works closely with Product teams to validate designs with end users & produce clear UX recommendations that align with stream goals. 
  • Contributes to UX deliverables that meet user & product stream missions / objectives.
  • Considers system usability when designing to ensure continuous and commercially sound improvements
  • Plan, conduct, and analyse user research studies to gain deep insights into user behaviours, needs, and motivations.
  • Utilise a variety of research methods, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analytics, to inform design decisions.
  • Use customer journey flows, empathy maps and personas to understand end to end services, different actors and primary user scenarios & needs
  • Have the courage to challenge things that appear to be misaligned to our vision or strategy
  • Respond positively and effectively to new and changing requirements, picking up new information and knowledge quickly
  • Work with other UX Designers and Product teams to explore multiple approaches to a problem and embrace iteration to improve designs in line with team deadlines
  • Understand the diversity of users and consider user context in all interaction designs
  • Challenge ideas/problems & validate solutions using data & insights from end users, retailers & stakeholders
  • Consider user & business needs in understanding effectiveness of, and making simple improvements to existing Information Architecture structures
  • Create low fidelity prototypes (paper/basic digital) to translate ideas into interactions and to demonstrate ideas
  • Consider existing design flows together with the capabilities and limitations of multiple devices and technologies (e.g. apps, web, HTML, progressive web apps) to design new interactions
  • With support of UX colleagues create detailed wireframes to help developers build functionality
  • With support, create consistent, compelling and inclusive designs that are localisable, and use best practice collaborative design techniques (e.g. versioning) 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience of working either as a dedicated UXR or exposure to UXR projects
  • Knowledge of working with mixed teams / functional areas, including product management, engineering, UX/UI
  • You actively demonstrate our values in everything you do
  • You contribute to being part of a high performing UX and Product teams when working alongside product & engineering
  • You are flexible and adapt to changing business needs and can prioritise work effectively
  • You are self managing, organised and able to plan, track and deliver your work on time and to a high standard
  • You have a bias for action, collaboration and optimism so that people will always want to have you in their team
  • You are comfortable with processing and visualising data to help create insight, solve problems and inform recommendations
  • You are logical and take a structured approach even when there is ambiguity
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills with a good emphasis on careful listening
  • Proven ability to plan, manage, track and deliver on commitments 
  • Exposure to working with design and technology teams
  • Capturing business needs and user requirements to support product realisation
