Summary 

We are looking for an experienced Experience Design Director who thrives on solving complex challenges and is energised by creating products and services that make life simply better. The responsibilities of this role are a mix of team leadership, hands-on UX design work and consultancy, and the successful candidate must be able to balance all three aspects as part of their day-to-day. 

You will be responsible for delivering best-in-class experiences as part of a complex, scaled, business critical programme for one of our key strategic accounts. You’ll be a key point of contact between the clients, our design team and our development team, and you will support the team to navigate the complexities of digital transformation at scale.  

You’ll be part of a cross-functional team, leading workshops or interviews with senior stakeholders within a complex client landscape to help them understand their businesses and customers more deeply and to drive innovation. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong experience in delivering complex projects that cover both technical and business go live.  

At WongDoody, our approach to Experience Design is lean and user-centred. We workshop ideas and solutions with clients and internal teams and sketch out ideas. We have a fast-paced, prototype-driven workshop approach called ‘Conversation to Creation’ (C2C) in which you’d play a key role. We run these workshops with startup founders and clients to kick-off new, transformational products and distil in weeks what others would take months for.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee a key strategic programme within the studio and ensure quality of work as well as supporting the team and establish ways of working that enable the best work for WongDoody and our clients.  
  • Liaising with senior clients and stakeholders, taking briefs, challenging them when required to add value to client’s business and customer’s experiences 
  • Build and nurture relationships with a globally distributed set of different stakeholders to understand design requirements and translate these into briefs for the team, executing these with the team reporting into you and/or working alongside you 
  • Guide the team regarding the CMS capabilities of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and advise the client in their planning and execution of the necessary design work. 
  • Gather business requirements, market research, and user needs, and distil them into actionable insights. Derive hypotheses, communicate them effectively, and test them.  
  • Lead your team and the client on a journey of product creation based on these insights.  
  • Design and communicate effectively through diagrams, sketches, designs, and prototypes.  
  • Work with WongDoody leadership to help achieve the company’s goals, to improve our ways-of-working and engagements with clients.  
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research using a variety of methods, incl. managing a third-party.  
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams from initial prototypes through to final design.  
  • Inspire and motive an energetic and collaborative team and let them inspire you.  
  • Work with the development and QA teams to ensure the product is understood and be part of the creation of the product throughout the process.  
  • Present work to clients and partners, facilitate workshops with c-suite clients.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 5+ years of experience leading digital transformation projects 
  • Deep, demonstratable experience of working on large scale web design  
  • Experience leading the UX and visual design of design and build projects using Adobe Experience manager (AEM) 
  • Knowledge of enterprise CMS platforms (specifically AEM) and the implications of designing with these functional technical boundaries in mind 
  • Experience in design solutions for B2B customers, including those served via distributors, wholesalers, and channel partners 
  • Able to demonstrate strong experience in delivering complex projects that cover both technical and business go live.  
  • The ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision and to create product roadmaps 
  • Experience managing and mentoring designers, and supporting their growth.  
  • Have a bias for action in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.  
  • Excellent communication skills: being able to explain design rationale, to align and persuade stakeholders, and to drive conversations.  
  • A solid understanding of all the other disciplines needed to create a brilliant product, such as business, technology, delivery, marketing, and content.  
  • Proficiency in Figma, PPT, and AI toolsets 
  • Experience creating a digital strategy and content strategy, and with the design and execution of user testing and research studies.  
  • A sense of humour!
