Our Future Health is the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to transform the future of healthcare.

Today, millions of people across the UK live with conditions such as cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease. By bringing together 5 million volunteers from across the UK, Our Future Health is creating one of the most detailed pictures of human health ever assembled.

We’re looking for a User Researcher to help shape and optimise how we engage with our volunteers.

In this role, you will ensure our products and services are grounded in a deep understanding of participant needs, behaviours, and experiences. Your work will directly influence how millions of people interact with Our Future Health and contribute to research that could transform healthcare.

You’ll work closely with product, design, and analytics teams to generate insights that inform decision-making and improve the participant experience across our platforms and services.

Our Future Health engages with participants in many different ways. Some of the projects you may contribute to include:

  • Designing and delivering valuable feedback to participants: Building personalised, valued feedback for the purpose of promoting continued engagement and participation in further research. Your work will ensure these products are meaningful, inclusive, and aligned with participant needs.
  • Participant invitations to further research: Developing and evaluating how we invite participants to engage in further research. Your work will help ensure that invitations and supporting materials enable participants to make informed, confident choices, with a clear understanding of what participation involves and how it may benefit them and the broader health of the population.

You will:

  • Lead and conduct user research across the product lifecycle using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods, including interviews, surveys, diary studies, usability testing, and ethnographic research
  • Generate clear, actionable insights that inform product design, improve user experience, and support strategic priorities
  • Design and run usability testing to refine products and services before launch
  • Evaluate products and services after launch to understand impact and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with product analysts, designers, and cross-functional teams to connect research insights with product decisions
  • Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions to align teams around participant insights
  • Maintain a repository of research findings to support ongoing and future work
  • Support colleagues in planning and conducting research, sharing best practices and expertise
  • Champion inclusive and accessible research practices, ensuring participant voices are represented in decision-making

Requirements
  • Proven experience conducting user research for digital products or services
  • Experience independently designing and delivering research studies
  • Strong knowledge of user research methods, including interviews, usability testing (moderated and unmoderated), surveys, and behavioural analysis
  • The ability to translate complex findings into clear insights and practical recommendations
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present research findings to diverse stakeholders
  • Experience using research tools and platforms for recruitment, testing, analysis, and documentation
  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams through discovery and delivery phases
  • Confidence advocating for user-centred thinking across teams

Closing date : 26th March

Benefits
  • Salary from £43,000.
  • Generous Pension Scheme – We invest in your future with employer contributions of up to 12%.
