Your Role

As a Senior Urban Designer, you are innovative and passionate, with amazing concept schemes, an understanding of technical delivery, with master planning experience in the UK and Internationally. You can work independently or as part of a team and with other practices within the office. A go getter, be assertive and not afraid to make mistakes. Be accountable for the delivery of your own projects, lead the design schemes, on time, and on budget.

What You Will Do

Successful candidates will be focused on master planning projects in the UK and Internationally, while also gaining exposure to a wide range of design experiences within our full portfolio of integrated disciplines: architecture, interiors, graphic/industrial design and consulting.

  • Provide leadership in conceptual design work for master planning, urban design and architecture projects and develop from feasibility through to detail.
  • Develop visions for place making, creating new communities and the development of new cities.
  • Work across variety of sectors including mixed use, commercial, residential, hospitality, retail and education as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
  • Illustrate and present design solutions effectively through free hand sketching and computer aided design to convey intended vision to our clients including architectural design solutions.
  • Lead the submission of design work and related planning documentation including Design and Access Statements and Design Guidelines.
  • Lead thought leadership initiatives and research and share findings within the firm and externally with clients, potential clients and consultants.
  • Collaborate with design teams, clients, consultants, community stakeholders and other parties to meet overall project objectives
  • Manage presentations and production of planning and urban design projects
  • Liaise with clients, government agencies and project stakeholders requiring excellent communication and people management skills.
  • Work closely with Directors and project team to ensure timely delivery of high quality master planning and architecture projects within budget.
  • Inspire and promote collaboration across disciplines to spark innovation, motivate talent and support design experimentation across the office. Actively take ownership of problems and successful resolution planning in consultation with Urban Design leadership and Studio leader.

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in Urban Design or Planning is essential, Master’s Degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning or equivalent
  • LEED qualification advantageous
  • 10 + years’ experience as an Urban Designer
  • Thorough understanding of UK and international planning standards and requirements
  • Relevant experience as an Urban Designer with proven background in creative collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, from concept through later stages
  • Knowledge and passion for working on a variety of urban design & masterplanning projects across multiple sectors
  • High level of verbal, written and graphic communication skills including freehand sketching and variety of computer aided mediums, including Revit, Rhino, Auto CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up & 3DS Max
  • Experience in parametric design application to master planning projects is essential
  • Excellent collaboration skills, good self-organisation and strong ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and dedication to their work and the work of their team
  • GIS Mapping & database skills are preferred
  • Experience working on Middle Eastern projects an advantage
