Role Summary:

The Senior Legal Counsel will assist and on occasion own the performance of the Group’s legal work load.

Contract: Permanent 

Location: London, UK (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities: 

    • Act as the legal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex contracts, special projects, and complex BAU matters, including legal claim resolution and AR disputes
    • Provide high-level legal support to the Group General Counsel on complex and sensitive matters
    • Independently research, analyse, and summarise complex legal issues and provide practical, commercially focused advice
    • Work directly and autonomously with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and other key internal and external stakeholders
    • Support and manage complex legal matters from issue identification through to resolution
    • Potential to undertake Company Secretary activities and provide management oversight of legal processes and workflows

    Candidate Requirements:

    • PQE 5+ legal experience in a commercial and/or corporate setting
    • M&A experience, with recent transactional experience
    • International exposure and confidence handing matters away from the English legal system
    • PE exposure and ideally experience of transactions with PE, either buy or sell side
    • Legal process implementation
    • Mentoring and training of legal or support staff for repeat or admin legal processes
    • Knowledge of maritime or IT legal issues and their resolution/negotiation is desirable
