Role Summary:
The Senior Legal Counsel will assist and on occasion own the performance of the Group’s legal work load.
Contract: Permanent
Location: London, UK (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the legal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex contracts, special projects, and complex BAU matters, including legal claim resolution and AR disputes
- Provide high-level legal support to the Group General Counsel on complex and sensitive matters
- Independently research, analyse, and summarise complex legal issues and provide practical, commercially focused advice
- Work directly and autonomously with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and other key internal and external stakeholders
- Support and manage complex legal matters from issue identification through to resolution
- Potential to undertake Company Secretary activities and provide management oversight of legal processes and workflows
Candidate Requirements:
- PQE 5+ legal experience in a commercial and/or corporate setting
- M&A experience, with recent transactional experience
- International exposure and confidence handing matters away from the English legal system
- PE exposure and ideally experience of transactions with PE, either buy or sell side
- Legal process implementation
- Mentoring and training of legal or support staff for repeat or admin legal processes
- Knowledge of maritime or IT legal issues and their resolution/negotiation is desirable
