UK PR Manager

Small businesses move fast. Opportunities often don't wait, and cash flow pressures can appear overnight. To keep going, and growing, SMEs need finance that's as flexible and responsive as they are.

That's why we built iwoca. Our smart technology, data science and five-star customer service ensures business owners can act with the speed, confidence and control they need, exactly when it's needed.

We've already cleared the way for 100,000 businesses with more than £4 billion in funding. Our passionate team is driven to help even more SMEs succeed, through access to better finance and other services that make running a business easier. Our ultimate mission is to support one million SMEs in their defining moments, creating lasting impact for the communities and economies they drive.

The team

This is an opportunity to manage high-impact UK PR and media relations at a fast-growing fintech that's reshaping SME finance. You'll be at the heart of iwoca's external communications strategy, driving coverage across our expanding product portfolio whilst managing major campaigns and tier-one media relationships.

Our comms function works across the business to position iwoca as a leading voice in SME finance. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Commercial, and Executive teams to translate business priorities into compelling narratives that drive both brand awareness and customer acquisition.

The role

We're looking for a PR Manager to take ownership of media campaigns and of iwoca's UK product communications. You'll be responsible for driving coverage and growth plans of our growing product suite, whilst managing the BAU media activities that keep iwoca front-of-mind with key journalists and stakeholders.

1. Examples of the type of work you’ll be doing:

Own, evolve and create new data-driven PR campaigns. You'll take ownership of several established data-driven campaigns with proven track records of securing tier-one coverage:

Top 25 UK Cities for SME Jobs: Our annual ranking combines ONS employment data, business figures, and economic indicators. You can refine the methodology if needed, analyse the latest data, and craft narratives for regional and national media.

Beyond producing and being part of the wider team that executes these campaigns, we’d like you to challenge what we're doing. For example, could we mine other datasets - HMRC, Bank of England, sector-specific sources - to create new campaigns? You'll have autonomy build new data-driven stories from scratch.

Business Hotspots: Using Companies House data, you'll analyse year-on-year business creation trends to identify entrepreneurial hotspots. You own the full process - data extraction, analysis, narrative development, and media execution.

SME survey research: Twice a year you'll commission original survey research, working with established research partners to design questionnaires capturing timely SME sentiment. You’ll ensure we generate "business news" coverage that responds to real economic issues.

You’ll be comfortable working with raw datasets - not just presenting finished analysis, but doing the analysis yourself. Spotting surprising findings, identifying regional variations, understanding which angles interest journalists versus policymakers.

2.Start shouting about our new products

You'll become the PR lead for several of iwoca's newest products, working directly with Venture Leads to drive awareness and customer acquisition. Here are a few we’ve just launched that you could be working on:

Credit Compass: Our credit-building tool helping SMEs improve their scores. You'll identify customer success stories, translate credit score trends into compelling narratives, and position this as iwoca's answer to the credit access gap.

SME Insurance: Help launch this proposition to market - identifying angles around why SMEs need this product and announce new strategic partners as and when we secure them.

iwoca Credit Card: You'll be involved from the ground up - understanding competitive positioning, identifying what's newsworthy in a crowded market, building a launch campaign that breaks through.

iwocaPay (launched in 2020): Our instant payment solution - you'll help scale awareness as this product continues to grow, finding ongoing news hooks beyond what we’ve already done in recent years.

For each product, you'll get under the hood with the Venture Leads - understanding commercial objectives, customer pain points, competitive landscape - then translating that into PR strategies that drive both coverage and business outcomes. You'll own 2-3 products as PR lead, with the split determined once you're in the job.

The requirements

Essential:
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a role where you were producing high quality content, for example in marketing or PR.

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft data-driven stories, press releases, briefing materials, and media pitches that cut through.

  • Proven ability to work at pace across multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organisational and project management skills.
