UK Operations Communications Manager

Location: Flexible on location with visits to all our UK offices as and when required.

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent/Fixed Term Contract options subject to interview process.

We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a UK Operations Communications Manager to join our Brand and Communications team at Domestic & General.

In this role, they will be responsible for managing and delivering internal communications to over 1,400 in-house colleagues across multiple countries and 600+ offshore colleagues through our outsource partners. The focus will be on enhancing employee engagement and ensuring messaging is aligned with business priorities.

The position is split approximately 70% on engaging our Operations teams and 30% on supporting corporate BAU communications. They will also support the development of communication strategies and oversee their execution—including copywriting, channel management, and campaign delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Engagement Communications

  • Develop and deliver internal communications strategies tailored to frontline and operational audiences. 

  • Drafting and Copywriting of established communications across different internal channels Incl.blog, posts, newsletter, emails and more 

  • Create and manage communication materials that are clear, consistent, and aligned to our brand tone of voice. 

  • Partner with Operations and HR leaders to communicate key priorities, change programmes, and transformation updates. 

  • Managing key channels of engagement such as work vivo space, calendar meetings and mailing lists  

Planning & Execution 

  • Design, manage, and maintain the internal communications calendar for Operations. 

  • Coordinate logistics for corporate BAU communications, including corporate events and Town hall, committees’ calendar and initiatives  

  • Support logistics of initiatives and campaigns events led by Brand & Comms Team  

  • Track and measure communication effectiveness using engagement data and employee feedback, and continuously improve content and delivery methods. 

Collaboration & Governance 

  • Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the Head of Internal Communications for creation of communication messages aligned with business needs, and brand identity  

  • Build strong working relationships with senior leaders, people managers, and external delivery partners (including South Africa-based teams). 

  • Provide communication templates, toolkits, and support managers cascade key information effectively. 

Skills and experience required:

  • Ability to interpret and synthesise information from senior leadership, external partners,  

  • High-level judgement in managing sensitive or high-impact messaging  

  • The capability to operate across multiple layers of the organisation, balancing strategic alignment with hands-on operational and tactical delivery 

  • Proven experience in internal communications or employee engagement, ideally within large or distributed operational environments in B2C 

  • Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages that connect with diverse audiences. 

  • Experience managing multi-channel communications (e.g. intranet, email, video, digital signage, events). 

  • Strong planning and organisational skills — able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. 

  • A collaborative, creative mindset with great attention to detail and a passion for employee engagement. 

  • Experience in contact centre, retail, logistics, or customer service industries would be desirable but not essential along with communication analytics and measurement tools. 

  • Proven track record of supporting change/company culture or transformation programmes.
