Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing corporation tax returns for the UK and European entities (including European branches) (in conjunction with external tax advisors);
  • Assist with the production of VAT / indirect tax returns (UK and Europe) (in conjunction with external tax advisors);
  • Assist with the maintaining and improving transfer pricing files, for the UK and European entities (in conjunction with external tax advisors);
  • Assist with documenting and reviewing tax controls, used to support general risk management;
  • Assist with producing payment on account estimates for periodic settlement to HMRC and European tax authorities;
  • Assist with addressing IPT queries;
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting requests and project work;
  • Assist with implementing and ensuring compliance with tax regulatory changes (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2);
  • Assist with production of statutory accounts and other regulatory reporting, focusing on tax disclosures (including for Group reporting purposes);
  • Assist with liaising with internal and external auditors to ensure all tax information required is produced to a high degree of accuracy and in a timely manner;
  • Assist with design and development of process improvements to ensure efficient and accurate production of tax data; and improve automation and efficiency across the UK and European operations.

Experience

  • 3 years’ post qualification experience;
  • Industry experience, within an insurance company, favourable;
  • Working knowledge of corporation tax requirements for insurance companies operating in the UK and Europe;
  • Working knowledge of VAT requirements for insurance companies operating in the UK and Europe;
  • Working knowledge of IPT requirements for insurance companies;
  • Experience with Lloyd’s Syndicates as well as insurance companies;
  • Liaison with external tax advisors; and
  • Improving and maintaining taxation accounting procedures.

  • Experience using Data Warehouse tools.

Languages

  • Business level English skills required
  • Second European language (Spanish, German etc) favourable.

Qualifications

  • ACA or CTA or similar qualification
