Firm Overview

Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008. Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Fixed Income & Macro, Event & Multi-Asset RV, Equity L/S & Capital Markets, and Quantitative Trading.

Role Overview

As Portfolio Finance Associate, you will own day-to-day financing coverage for EMEA, partner with PMs to evaluate and improve financing structures, and lead projects that shape how Verition manages its book. You will also collaborate with our financing desks in New York, Dubai, and Hong Kong for a genuinely global view of the firm's funding strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the firm's securities lending book. Provide borrow color to PMs, negotiate fees on hard-to-borrow names, and identify opportunities to lend long positions.
  • Report short interest metrics firm-wide. Maintain and improve reporting that gives PMs and senior leadership visibility into stock loan exposures.
  • Analyze corporate actions. Identify events impacting stock loan markets and surface implications to PMs and the desk.
  • Partner with PMs on financing structures. Evaluate existing arrangements and propose enhancements to cost, capacity, or flexibility.
  • Optimize financing and margin across asset classes. Work with the Margin and Liquidity team across equities, fixed income, credit, and derivatives.
  • Execute the firm's daily FX hedging program. A meaningful part of the role — execute the workflow and improve it over time.
  • Platform improvements. Lead projects that improve reporting, analytics, and decision-making tools for Treasury and the firm.
  • Stay ahead of market and regulatory developments. Monitor financing and regulatory trends impacting funding strategy, and brief the team.
  • Partner with risk, compliance, and operations. Ensure financing activity meets regulatory and firm-wide standards.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in securities lending, prime brokerage, treasury, or financing at a hedge fund or investment bank.
  • Solid working knowledge of European and global securities lending markets.
  • Familiarity with financing structures including total return swaps, interest rate swaps, and other derivatives.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; communicates credibly with internal PMs and external counterparties.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with FX execution or hedging strategies.
  • Proficiency with Python, SQL, or other analytics tools.
  • Experience using AI providers to enhance workflows.
  • Prior experience leading platform or process-improvement initiatives.
