About the role 

As a Thumbnail Designer at The Rundown, you’ll be responsible for designing and publishing high-performing thumbnails, titles and descriptions across The Rundown’s video and social channels, including content for our CEO’s personal brand.

Working closely with our media and content teams, you’ll play a key role in shaping how millions of people experience AI news and education through engaging visual storytelling, data-driven creative decisions and consistent brand execution.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design 2–3 high-performing, A/B tested thumbnails every weekday for The Rundown’s YouTube and social media channels.

  • Write engaging, SEO-optimised titles and descriptions that maximise clarity and audience engagement.

  • Collaborate with media and content teams to translate stories, scripts and videos into compelling visual content.

  • Analyse performance metrics, test creative approaches and iterate designs based on data and audience insights.

  • Maintain brand consistency across all visual assets, ensuring alignment with The Rundown’s visual identity and storytelling style.

  • Source, edit and enhance images using professional editing and AI tools to produce polished, high-quality creative.

  • Manage the publishing workflow by uploading final thumbnails, titles and descriptions, ensuring content is published on schedule.

Skills and experience 

  • Exceptional eye for design with experience creating high-performing digital content.

  • Excellent copywriting skills and English proficiency, with the ability to write compelling titles and descriptions.

  • Experience designing and A/B testing YouTube thumbnails for videos achieving 100k+ views.

  • Strong understanding of performance analytics with a passion for testing, learning and continuous optimisation.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable 

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

  • Flexibility to occasionally work across different time zones when required.

  • Passion for AI and a genuine excitement for making AI knowledge and skills accessible to millions of people worldwide.

  • Experience using AI-powered creative tools to enhance design workflows.
