Job Description

Job Title: Test / Solution Architect – FMCG / ERP – Large Data / Platform Migration

Duration: Contract 6 months initially – Outside IR35

 Location: Hybrid with possible travel to (Leeds and Sheffield)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Test / Solution Architect to work in collaboration with the Programme Test Manager to support lead the test design, strategy, and governance of testing across complex Supply Chain Management, Workforce Management, ERP, Manufacturing / FMCG environments. This role focuses on ensuring quality across large‑scale systems, platforms, and integrations, with a strong emphasis on automation, data awareness, and modern testing practices.

The Senior Test / Solution Architect will work closely with cross‑functional teams and report directly to the Senior Programme Test Manager, acting as a technical authority for all testing‑related decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and support own the end‑to‑end test architecture for supply chain management, ERP, manufacturing, and enterprise platforms.
  • Input into Develop scalable test strategies covering functional, non‑functional, integration, and regression testing.
  • Establish with the team best‑practice frameworks, standards, and governance for testing across the organisation.

ERP & Platform Expertise

  • Support lead testing for ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) including modules, integrations, and customisations.
  • Support system/platform design and implementation from a quality and risk perspective.
  • Feed into and advise on Ensure test coverage across supply chain, manufacturing, warehousing, finance, and commercial systems.
  • Data & Analytics
  • Support testing for data warehousing, ETL pipelines, and reporting platforms.
  • Support the team to ensure data quality, validation, and reconciliation processes are embedded into test approaches.

Must be able to demonstrate a proven track record in the following areas:

  • Stakeholder Management including a number of Software Development vendors
  • Experience of working with the Programme Test Manager Senior Test Manager to shape the overall QA roadmap.
  • Provide technical leadership and support the to test teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert for testing across ERP, manufacturing, and FMCG environments.

Risk & Quality Management

  • Identify quality risks early and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Essential:

  • Strong background as a Test or Solution Architect or similar Senior QA role.
  • Good experience across large ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of system/platform design and implementation.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Tosca).
  • Experience with data warehousing, ETL testing, and data validation.
  • Excellent understanding of integration testing across complex enterprise landscapes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and shift‑left testing practices.
  • Exposure to Cybersecurity or Performance testing.
  • ISTQB Advanced or equivalent certifications
