Position Summary

As Test Lead you will enable the creation, translation, and consumption of data-driven insights to help Rolls-Royce, and their customers make better decisions - increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the services that we and our customers deliver. You will support the creation of applications that enable our customers to make better decisions in their everyday activities based on the most accurate and reliable information available.

You will be fully conversant in data intensive application development and understand how to apply your skills to responsive and smart applications.

In this role, you will love what you do, and instinctively know how to make work fun. You will be dynamic and creative, and willing to take on any challenge and make a big impact. You will also demonstrate a strong creative drive and understanding of what is required from an application to engage and excite a user community.

You will be joining the team at an exciting and challenging time as a range of new products are entering into service on cloud-based infrastructure.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the testing phases conducted by the in-house and supply chain teams, managing all phases of testing, including plans, timescales, test deliverables, and auditability
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution
  • Develop, execute, and report on complex test plans from requirement specifications and refined product backlog items, in accordance with agreed standards
  • Review test results, modifying manual and automated tests where necessary to achieve business outcomes
  • Work closely with the Delivery Manager, Product Owner, technical SMEs and development teams to ensure the right solutions are developed to the highest quality
  • Review and refine requirements, both functional and non-functional, with a shift-left perspective on test to identify issues far in advance.
  • Liaise with customers and the supplier development teams to resolve testing issues
  • Ensure that any risks associated with the system test plan are clearly documented and described to the customers and colleagues
  • Constant consideration for continual improvement and reducing process ‘waste’
  • Quality Assurance oversight of functional, integration, and systems testing of software developed by supply chain development teams
  • Collaborate with other Test Leads to share knowledge and contribute to corporate testing standards and definition of best practice

Position Qualifications:

  • Comfortable working within all aspects of web and data application development with respect to server side and front-end applications
  • An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems
  • High level of knowledge and experience in the field of test automation
  • Knowledge and experience of best of breed test tooling and technologies
  • Experienced with the Microsoft toolchain, specifically Visual Studio, Azure DevOps and Git
  • Experienced in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • Experience working on projects within the cloud, ideally Azure
  • Skilled communicator, able to engage with colleagues, customers and stakeholders
  • Experience of working in an Agile and DevOps environment, within a self-organising team
  • Experience of providing technical leadership to software testing teams

Regional Benefits:

  • Work in a safety-first environment where doing the right thing and keeping it simple are core principles.
  • Join a culture that values making a real difference through your work.
  • Develop your career as a mid-career professional blending technical expertise with strong personal qualities.
  • Thrive in a role that encourages integrity, accountability, resilience, and curiosity.
  • Collaborate and build relationships in a team-focused environment while also working independently.
  • Take initiative, lead, and make smart decisions with confidence and support.
  • Grow through continuous learning, openness to improvement, and exposure to challenging opportunities.

Our vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future. Our multi-year transformation programme aims to turn Rolls-Royce into a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing company. Join us, and it can be your future vision too.
