Job Purpose

BTIG seeks an Infrastructure Engineer to join the team in our London office. You will be responsible for technology infrastructure, connectivity and the network across BTIG EMEA. The successful candidate must be open to getting involved with tasks spanning a wide area of responsibility, be proactive and detail orientated with an organised and methodical approach.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with infrastructure, network and end user teams globally as well as third parties to implement.
  • Provide server, desktop support (both (physical and virtual).
  • Investigating connectivity, network and firewall issues.
  • Performing morning checks, keeping records and responding to health monitoring and security alerts.
  • Responsible for data backup and recovery.
  • Undertaking business continuity & disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Managing the service desk for EMEA.
  • Managing the onboarding and offboarding of employee network and systems access.
  • Investigating and resolving issues with email delivery, Microsoft Office 365 tools, landline & mobile telephony, voice recording, printing and other BTIG applications and technology services.
  • Taking full ownership of issues, tasks and ad-hoc queries, maintaining records and tickets in ServiceNow, testing deliverables and ensuring closure to the satisfaction of the requestor.
  • Gaining and maintaining a good understanding of business processes.
  • Assisting with issues relating to building services.
  • Assisting colleagues in Global Technology, outsourced technology service providers and product vendor support functions as appropriate to resolve issues spanning all BTIG locations.
  • Performing and overseeing essential maintenance outside of trading hours.

Requirements and Qualifications

Qualification such as BSc, equivalent formal training or commercial experience (desirable).

(essential criteria)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an infrastructure and networking role.
  • Installing Windows operating systems, MS Office, managing updates and performing standard builds.
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience.
  • Working in a responsive environment.
  • Problem solving skills – logical, critical thinking.
  • Good interpersonal skills. Building effective and strong relationships with colleagues and external partners with the ability to facilitate collaboration.
  • Ability to listen and to fully appreciate the impact of any issue from the perspective of each and every colleague.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written skills with people at all levels of seniority.
  • Time management – able to manage competing demands.

(desirable criteria)

  • Palo Alto firewall experience.
  • Experience with CISCO or Arista switches.
  • Experience with IPC dealer board systems
  • Experience installing or upgrading CISCO CUCM.
  • Using mobile devices management tools.
  • An understanding of SQL and the running of queries to generate ad-hoc reports.
  • Use of help desk systems such as Service Now.
  • Experience with market data and trading order and execution management systems including Bloomberg and Fidessa.
  • Experience with Fixed Income and Bloomberg TOMS.
  • Script writing and automation.
