Who we are

Glencore is one of the world’s largest global diversified natural resource companies, and a major producer and marketer of more than 60 commodities that advance everyday life. Through a network of assets, customers and suppliers that spans the globe, we produce, process, recycle, source, market and distribute the commodities that support decarbonisation while meeting the energy needs of today.

With over 150,000 employees and contractors and a strong footprint in over 35 countries in both established and emerging regions for natural resources, our marketing and industrial activities are supported by a global network of more than 50 offices.

Graduate Careers at Glencore UK

Based in our fast-paced London office, our commercial programme is designed to accelerate the careers of outstanding graduates who have an entrepreneurial outlook and a genuine interest in energy commodity trading.

Our graduate roles combine structured, professional development with on-the-job experience – successful candidates will have direct exposure to the commercial teams and will be trusted to take on responsibility from day one.

Front Office Technology

The Front Office Technology team uses technology to solve business problems across all of the commodities traded in our Energy division. We are a key enabler to the Front Office, building out innovative tech-driven solutions to the pressing challenges our trading teams face and implementing these across the business.

Our team has four main areas of focus, and graduates will initially work closely in one of these areas:

  • Quantitative Engineering
  • Risk Engineering
  • Data Engineering
  • Application Development

The team is both commercially driven and highly technically proficient, which allows us to combine entrepreneurial drive and an analytical, solutions-driven approach to problem-solving in the commodities space.

This is an exciting opportunity to get exposure to the entirety of the Front Office team’s work from a technical perspective and make a direct impact from the start – you will be a partner to our highest-performing teams and trusted with real responsibility from the outset. As a result, you will have the chance to learn the business incredibly quickly.

ETRM and Middle/Back Office Technology

The ETRM and Middle Office/Back Office Technology team plays a pivotal role in enabling and enhancing the core capabilities of our energy trading, operations and risk management platforms. We partner closely with trading, risk and operations teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions that support the full trade lifecycle—from deal capture to settlement.

Our mission is to empower the business to:

  • Expand into new markets and trade new products efficiently.
  • Automate and streamline business processes across trading, physical operations, risk, and settlements.
  • Enhance transparency, control, and decision-making through robust trade performance data.
  • Ensure operational resilience and compliance through smart, tech-driven solutions.

Graduates joining this programme will be embedded in one of our core focus areas:

  • Power, Gas and LNG Trading Platform – Building and enhancing systems that support trade capture, risk, settlement, confirmation and lifecycle events.
  • Core Oil and Shipping Platform – Building and enhancing systems that support trade capture, physical oil & oil products operations, risk, settlement and lifecycle events.
  • Trade Lifecycle Engineering – Streamlining and automating post-trade processes and integrating with physical logistics and finance systems.

This is a unique opportunity to gain deep exposure to the mechanics of global energy trading and make a tangible impact from day one. You’ll work alongside experienced technologists and business stakeholders, contributing to projects that are critical to the firm’s success.

Who we look for

We’re looking for recent graduates who want to take on the challenge of applying tech-based solutions in a fast-paced commodities trading environment.

As you will be working with leaders across our commercial teams the ability to use your technical skills in the ‘real world’ is also incredibly important – you should be confident explaining complex problems simply to both a ‘tech’ and ‘business’ audience and want to apply a entrepreneurial spirit to your work.

To apply to our Technology Graduate opportunity, you should show:

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree with a minimum 2:1 or equivalent. Recent graduates and those predicted to graduate with a 2.1 or above in 2026 are welcome to apply.
  • Computer Science or related disciplines. Exceptional candidates from other fields who exhibit strong programming language proficiency will also be considered.
  • Proficiency required in an object-oriented programming language, especially Java, C++, C#, or Python.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Angular, and Databricks is highly desirable for building scalable, data-driven applications across the trading lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated quick learning ability and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical peers from across the business.
  • Interest and experience in the commodities sector, particularly within Finance, Energy, or Oil industries, are beneficial.

Applications will close on October 10, 2025.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so an earlier application may lead to an earlier decision.
