Are you ready to rethink your routine? We’re looking for a Technology Director to join our Technology Team. The Technology Director will lead the technology strategy and operations for the organization, ensuring alignment with business goals and driving innovation to enhance customer experience, streamline operations, and support growth. As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will oversee a small internal team and manage the relationship with various partners that provide the company’s technical capabilities. You will have a passion for delivering outstanding business and customer outcomes through Technology. You will have worked in similar and also larger multi-channel retail organisations and you will have a passion for and experience in building collaborative high performing Tech Teams that work in partnership with third party teams and also with other colleagues in the wider business.

The Role 

Your daily to-dos might look like this:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a Technology strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives and supports its growth in the competitive beauty market.
  • Identify and champion opportunities for technology innovation in e-commerce, in-store experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends, recommending those that align with the company’s goals.

Vendor and Partner Management

  • Act as the point of escalation and governance for strategic partners, driving accountability and performance improvements.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a small internal Tech team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to ensure skill development and alignment with the company’s technology needs.
  • Continuously improve the team’s operating model and performance.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the delivery of IT operations, including infrastructure, applications, and support services, ensuring stability, security, and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection and cybersecurity regulations.

Customer-Centric Innovation

  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and commercial teams to develop digital tools and platforms that enhance the customer experience.
  • Drive the adoption of advanced technologies, such as AI for personalized marketing or analytics to improve inventory management.

Budget and Cost Management

  • Develop and manage the Tech  budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions that deliver measurable value.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings through technology.
Requirements

These skills will help you go far in this role:

  • Expertise in aligning technology strategy with business goals, focusing on growth, customer engagement, and operational efficiency.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with C-suite, board members, and department heads; ability to inspire and empower teams.
  • Proven in leading digital transformations, structuring technology teams, managing senior talent, and fostering tech culture.
  • Deep knowledge of DevOps, Agile, Scrum, and project delivery lifecycle, tailored to organizations like Trinny London.
  • Strong background in omnichannel retail, e-commerce platforms (Commerce Tools, Shopify), POS systems, and mobile commerce.
  • Proficient in leveraging personalization engines, AI chatbots, AR/VR, and loyalty programs to enhance customer journeys.
  • Skilled in SaaS/PaaS solutions, GDPR compliance, and ensuring data security.
  • Experienced in ERP, CRM, analytics tools (Google Analytics, Power BI), and AI for insights and optimization.
  • Proven track record of driving ROI, cost management, and implementing growth-focused technologies.
  • Awareness of cosmetics trends, regulatory compliance, and cutting-edge technologies.
  • Adept at managing crises and navigating complex outsourced models.
  • Experienced in securing buy-in, managing vendor contracts, and building tech partnerships

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent level within related field
  • Track record of experience working in Technology leadership at a senior level, demonstrating breadth of experience but also depth in a key Technology discipline.
  • Evidence of training in Tech related methodologies and tools - e.g. Agile, DevOps, Project Delivery.
  • Experience in working with an organisation of similar size, ambition, scope and culture to Trinny London, but also experience in retailers
