We tackle the most complex problems in quantitative finance by bringing scientific clarity to financial complexity.
From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution - because the best ideas take time to evolve. Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas.
Every breakthrough is built on strong foundations. In our BICA team, you’ll work across disciplines to drive the strategy, culture and structure that enable our success.
Take the next step in your career.
The roleBICA provides commercially focused insight that strengthens decision-making and supports strategic execution. The role centres on assessing how effectively our technology, delivery capability, and partnerships create business value, working closely with engineering, delivery leadership, and senior management to identify the risks, opportunities, and improvements that matter most.
It is a broad, intellectually demanding role spanning technology architecture, project delivery, and third-party ecosystems. You’ll build a deep understanding of how our technology and delivery organisation operates—from engineering practices and platform architecture through to strategic priorities and business outcomes.
This role suits someone who combines technical curiosity with commercial judgement. You’ll be comfortable exploring complex systems and delivery mechanics while also stepping back to evaluate how they support strategic goals, engaging directly in architecture discussions, delivery pipelines, and platform design.
You’ll challenge constructively, connect insights across teams, and provide clear, independent insight to senior leadership and the Board to help strengthen business performance.
Technology Architecture & Engineering Risk
Evaluate and challenge complex technology environments, including enterprise architecture, platforms, and engineering practices.
- Assess current-state enterprise architecture to understand system interactions and dependencies, identifying architectural pain points and misalignment with target-state architecture, technology strategy, and engineering standards.
- Conduct deep dives into critical engineering and delivery capabilities (e.g. CI/CD pipelines, platform resilience, service availability, API conformance).
- Partner directly with engineers and delivery teams to understand systems, data flows, and operational dependencies — applying a commercial risk lens to identify practical improvements.
- Use data, AI, and analytical tooling to surface emerging technology and operational risks early.
Delivery & Strategic Execution
Assess whether key technology and business initiatives are set up for successful delivery.
- Evaluate delivery structures, governance, and decision-making across major initiatives to determine whether they support effective execution.
- Review how Strategic Key Results (SKRs) are defined, measured, and cascaded across teams, ensuring delivery activity aligns with strategic intent.
- Assess third-party and integration risks, particularly where system boundaries, ownership, or handover points create potential operational gaps — including how APIs are designed, governed, and monitored.
- Challenge Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics to ensure they are commercially meaningful, measurable, and effectively monitored.
Insight, Reporting & Influence
- Translate complex technical observations into clear, commercially relevant insights for leadership.
- Produce concise, high-impact reporting for the Executive Management Team and Board.
- Highlight opportunities to strengthen delivery performance, technology resilience, and strategic alignment.
- Contribute to the evolution of BICA’s approach, helping build an assurance model that is forward-looking, technology-aware, and commercially focused.
- Excited by a broad, varied remit — equally comfortable examining detailed technical processes and evaluating high-level strategy.
- Passionate about how AI can transform our working practices to deliver higher quality insights to Board and EMT.
- A strategic thinker and fast learner, eager to understand new technologies, delivery models, and business dynamics.
- Experienced in technology risk, assurance, or delivery oversight, ideally within complex or high-performance environments.
- Technically curious — confident engaging with engineers, data scientists, and delivery leads to understand how things work and how they could work better.
- Skilled at forming balanced, commercial judgments, especially in areas of ambiguity.
- Familiar with Agile, DevOps, and modern delivery practices.
- Knowledgeable about project governance, API-related risks, third-party management, and performance measurement frameworks.
- Comfortable influencing through insight and credibility rather than authority.
- Academically strong (minimum 2.1 degree or equivalent), ideally in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related analytical discipline.
- Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
- Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar
- 30 days’ annual leave
- 9% company pension contributions
- Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
- Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance
- Cycle-to-work scheme
- Monthly company events
