Job Description
As a Technical Writer at JPMorgan Chase, you are the heart of this venture, focused on getting smart ideas into the hands of our customers. You have a curious mindset, thrive in collaborative squads, and are passionate about new technology. By your nature, you are also solution-oriented, commercially savvy and have a head for fintech.
While we're looking for professional skills, culture is just as important to us. We understand that everyone's unique - and that diversity of thought, experience and background is what makes a good team great. By bringing people with different points of view together, we can represent everyone and truly reflect the communities we serve. This way, there's scope for you to make a huge difference - on us as a company, and on our clients and business partners around the world.
Job responsibilities
Design and develop comprehensive product documentation, including conceptual overviews, step-by-step guides, API reference materials, and interactive tutorials for developer audiences.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers and Engineering teams to extract technical knowledge and build deep expertise in our financial services product ecosystem.
Translate complex technical information into simple, accurate, engaging content that adapts to various audiences.
Manage, or show proficiency to learn, API design principles and a docs-as-code workflow to publish documentation on our customer-facing portals.
Define and evolve documentation standards, style guides, and quality control processes that ensure consistency across our external-facing technical content.
Evaluate, implement, and optimise documentation toolchains that streamline content creation, testing, and publishing workflows.
Champion user-centered documentation by systematically gathering, analysing, and implementing customer feedback to continuously improve content effectiveness.
Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent tone of voice across all documentation.
Drive innovation in technical content strategy by researching and implementing emerging documentation approaches, formats, and delivery methods.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
B2B Technical Writer with experience creating technical documentation for developer-focused products, with emphasis on API documentation.
Proficiency with modern documentation technologies and tools including Markdown, OpenAPI/Swagger, static site generators, docs-as-code content authoring, and git-based version control.
Ability to quickly understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, precise documentation with attention to accuracy, consistency, and readability.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and product teams to gather technical information, define content structures and create visuals.
Strong customer advocacy mindset with the ability to anticipate developer needs, identify content gaps, and champion documentation improvements that directly address user pain points.
Self-directed work ethic with demonstrated ability to take initiative, ask insightful questions, and drive projects forward even when requirements or technical details are initially unclear.
Adaptability and resilience in fast-moving environments, with the ability to manage multiple documentation priorities while maintaining high-quality standards.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
Ideally you are proficient, or prepared to learn about, API structure and design principles.
Previous experience documenting APIs, products or services in the Financial Services or Fintech sector.
Experience in both startup environments and established organisations.
