Daintta are a rapidly growing, values-driven team of specialists who work with government and private sector clients across Cyber Security, National Security, Law Enforcement and Telecommunications. The Technical Quality Assurance Engineer is a hands-on consultant responsible for delivering technically capable, risk-based quality assurance across complex, high-assurance client and internal project systems.

The role supports delivery teams through exploratory, functional, API, integration and system-level testing, using technical investigation, data validation and appropriate automation to identify risk and provide confidence throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Your role

You will apply strong testing fundamentals and technical curiosity to understand how systems work, identify where quality risks exist and determine the most appropriate testing and assurance techniques. You will work collaboratively with developers, architects, delivery teams and clients, using APIs, data, logs, integrations and delivery tooling to investigate behaviour and provide clear evidence of quality and risk.

You will be expected to adapt quickly to unfamiliar technologies and delivery environments, work methodically and professionally, and contribute to Daintta’s wider QA capability through knowledge sharing, improved tooling, reusable approaches and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and decompose requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and solution designs to identify quality risks and appropriate test coverage.
  • Design and execute functional, exploratory, API, integration, system and end-to-end testing across complex technical solutions.
  • Test REST APIs, service integrations and data flows, validating behaviour, contracts, transformations and error handling.
  • Investigate defects using logs, API requests and responses, databases, browser developer tools, CI/CD output and other technical evidence.
  • Create and maintain clear test evidence and traceability between requirements, risks, testing and outcomes.
  • Work closely with developers, architects and delivery teams to embed quality early and prevent defects rather than relying solely on downstream testing.
  • Contribute to automated regression testing and work alongside the Test Automation Engineer to increase effective automation coverage.
  • Support integration of testing and quality checks within CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering workflows.
  • Apply risk-based testing to prioritise assurance effort around business, technical and operational impact.
  • Support test planning, defect management, quality reporting, release readiness and operational assurance activities.
  • Communicate quality risks, findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work directly with clients as a trusted delivery team member, adapting testing approaches to their technology, constraints and operational context.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Daintta QA methods, reusable assets, tooling and delivery practices.


Skills/Knowledge

  • You are degree educated, or have significant equivalent relevant experience.
  • You have practical experience in software quality assurance and testing across the delivery lifecycle.
  • You have hands-on experience of API, integration, system, exploratory or technically focused testing.
  • You are comfortable using technical evidence such as APIs, logs, data and SQL/database queries to investigate system behaviour and defects.
  • You have experience of, or an appetite to develop capability in, test automation and CI/CD environments.
  • You understand risk-based testing and can determine what needs testing, why it matters and how deeply it should be tested.
  • You are flexible and able to work effectively in unfamiliar technical environments, including where requirements may be incomplete or ambiguous.
  • You can communicate clearly with engineers, delivery teams and clients, including explaining quality risks and evidence to non-technical stakeholders.
  • You are passionate about technology, problem solving and understanding how complex systems work.
  • Experience working within Defence, National Security, Critical National Infrastructure, Policing, Healthcare/NHS, Government or similarly regulated or high-assurance environments would be advantageous.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments, including Scrum and/or Kanban.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and how quality activities align with each phase.
  • Experience participating in Agile ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, Backlog Refinement, and Release Planning.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience working in iterative and incremental delivery environments with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Current UK Security Clearance (SC or DV) is desirable but not essential. Candidates without active clearance must be willing and eligible to undergo the appropriate security vetting prior to employment
  • Exposure to Waterfall or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Experience supporting projects through both traditional and Agile delivery models.
  • Experience contributing to release management, deployment validation, and production support activities.

Complementary Experience:

We are hiring multiple Technical Quality Assurance Engineers and do not expect candidates to have identical experience. Additional strength in one or more of the following would be beneficial: API and data quality; systems and integration testing; accessibility and usability; test automation; performance testing; or quality engineering within CI/CD.
