Ohme is on a mission to accelerate the global transition to clean, affordable energy. We do that by serving as an integrated hardware and software smart-grid platform, focused on the residential EV charging market.

Ohme has been selling its chargers to consumers since mid 2019 and has had exponential growth since. We are now operating in multiple countries and have partnerships with the likes of VW, Mercedes, Octopus Energy, and other innovative brands.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead/ Lead Engineer to join one of Ohme’s energy flexibility teams and help Ohme disrupt the energy industry’s approach to load balancing energy grids globally.


Skills Required
  • Very experienced with developing in the JVM ecosystem (Java, Scala, Kotlin etc)
  • Experience using Spring boot or similar such as Micronaut, Ktor, Http4k
  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Technical Lead, or similar role involving leading or mentoring a team of software engineers
  • Demonstrated success in system design, architecture, and scaling solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a balance of pragmatism and innovation.
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Ability to mentor and inspire engineers, fostering both professional and personal growth.
  • Prior experience in addressing business and technical stakeholder requirements and translating these to the appropriate solution architecture

Desirable
  • Commercial experience using Kotlin
  • Energy sector domain knowledge
  • Working knowledge of trading systems (particularly energy trading)
  • Experience working for a product centric organisation

What you will do
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to engineers of varying seniority.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of complex systems and features.
  • Review code, enforce coding standards, and ensure scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative approaches.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Drive the execution of projects from conception to deployment, balancing speed with quality.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in architecture and delivery timelines.
  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring clarity and alignment.
  • Advocate for technical excellence in planning and prioritization discussions.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in both process and technology.
  • Participate in recruitment processes by interviewing candidates for technical positions
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements and communicate those with your team
  • Help improving our way of working based on continuous improvement
