We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead/ Lead Engineer to join one of Ohme’s energy flexibility teams and help Ohme disrupt the energy industry’s approach to load balancing energy grids globally.
Skills Required
- Very experienced with developing in the JVM ecosystem (Java, Scala, Kotlin etc)
- Experience using Spring boot or similar such as Micronaut, Ktor, Http4k
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Technical Lead, or similar role involving leading or mentoring a team of software engineers
- Demonstrated success in system design, architecture, and scaling solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a balance of pragmatism and innovation.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating cross-functionally.
- Ability to mentor and inspire engineers, fostering both professional and personal growth.
- Prior experience in addressing business and technical stakeholder requirements and translating these to the appropriate solution architecture
Desirable
- Commercial experience using Kotlin
- Energy sector domain knowledge
- Working knowledge of trading systems (particularly energy trading)
- Experience working for a product centric organisation
What you will do
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to engineers of varying seniority.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of complex systems and features.
- Review code, enforce coding standards, and ensure scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative approaches.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and translate them into actionable plans.
- Drive the execution of projects from conception to deployment, balancing speed with quality.
- Identify and mitigate risks in architecture and delivery timelines.
- Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring clarity and alignment.
- Advocate for technical excellence in planning and prioritization discussions.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in both process and technology.
- Participate in recruitment processes by interviewing candidates for technical positions
