Welcome to an exciting opportunity where ambitious individuals are invited to join a team of inquisitive minds and supportive peers, all driven by a shared passion and diverse skills aimed at creating value for businesses through data.

About Us

Ascent has recently been acquired by Acuity Analytics.  This is both a significant milestone for us and a tremendous opportunity for you.  Acuity Analytics is a business with a strong global reputation, an impressive client base and ambitious growth plans.  We deliver deep insights and domain-led digital transformation to high-growth and heavily regulated organisations.  To our customers, we bring a partnership that provides the talent, technology and capability to enhance performance and operational efficiency.

About the role

As a Technical Architect, you will lead the assessment and modernization of legacy banking applications, integration platforms, and data warehouse environments. You will define target-state architectures that transform monolithic .NET systems into modular, scalable, and resilient solutions using modern integration, containerization, and cloud patterns.

You will drive architectural decisions across applications, integrations, and data platforms, including cloud adoption strategies, containerization, and non-functional requirements such as performance, resilience, security, and regulatory compliance. You will produce and govern architectural artifacts and reference architectures to guide delivery teams.

Working closely with business analysts, developers, data architects, and DevOps teams, you will provide technical leadership, guide code and integration design, support CI/CD and observability practices, and mentor engineering teams to ensure high-quality, future-proof solutions across the banking technology landscape.

Skills and Experience required

  • 10+ years of experience in application architecture and solution design, with strong expertise in .NET/C#, SQL Server, and enterprise integration technologies.
  • Proven experience assessing and modernizing legacy, monolithic systems into service-oriented or microservices-based architectures.
  • Strong background in defining target-state architectures, including modular code design, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and horizontally scalable solutions.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating and recommending cloud adoption strategies, across on-prem and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Databricks), with a focus on scalability and cost efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of integration patterns, API design, secure integration, and messaging technologies such as MQ and Kafka.
  • Experience designing and governing non-functional requirements, including performance, throughput, latency, resilience, and RPO/RTO targets.
  • Strong capabilities in observability and testing, including defining metrics, using monitoring tools (e.g. Dynatrace), and ensuring appropriate code quality and test coverage.
  • Familiarity with DevOps/DataOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, configuration management, and environment blueprinting.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business, UX, data, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Experience working in regulated banking environments (e.g. BCBS239, DORA) and supporting near real-time integration platforms is preferred.
  • Architecture or cloud certifications such as TOGAF, AWS, or Azure Architect are desirable.
