📍 Hackney, London (3 days in-office / 2 remote)

💰 Highly Competitive + Equity

The Mission

Geomiq is building the operating system for manufacturing.

Our platform connects engineers with a global manufacturing network, using software, data and AI to simplify one of the world's most complex industries.

We're looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to own our backend architecture while driving the next generation of AI-powered automation across the business. From intelligent internal tools to AI agents and workflow automation, you'll help redefine how Geomiq operates.

The Role: Lead from the Front

This is a technical-first leadership role. You won't just manage—you'll architect, build and ship.

  • Write Production Code: You'll be in the codebase (Laravel/Python) every day.

  • Architect Systems: Design scalable services, APIs and data pipelines powering our global marketplace.

  • Build with AI: Create AI-powered internal tools, agents and automations that improve productivity across Engineering, Operations, Sales and Supply Chain.

  • Automate Business Workflows: Work closely with teams across the business to identify manual processes and use AI, APIs and automation to eliminate repetitive work.

  • Lead Senior Talent: Mentor a high-calibre team of engineers and data scientists while maintaining a high engineering bar.

  • Shape the Technical Roadmap: Partner with the CEO and Product team to define the future architecture of the platform.

This is not a Jira-ticket management role. We value builders who move quickly, solve problems and use technology—including AI—to create measurable business impact.

The Stack
  • Backend: Laravel (PHP) – Essential

  • Frontend: Vue.js / JavaScript

  • AI & Automation: Python, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, AI Agents, n8n, APIs and workflow automation

  • Data: SQL, data pipelines and analytics

  • Infrastructure: API-first architecture, cloud platforms and third-party integrations

Who You Are
  • A senior software engineer first and a leader second.

  • Deep experience building production systems with Laravel.

  • Comfortable designing scalable architectures, APIs and data models.

  • Passionate about using AI to improve engineering productivity and automate business processes.

  • Experienced integrating LLMs, APIs and modern automation platforms into real products or internal tooling.

  • Startup-minded, pragmatic and comfortable balancing speed with long-term architecture.

  • Someone who enjoys solving business problems with technology—not just writing code.

Why Geomiq?
  • Real Impact: Build software and AI systems used every day to power global manufacturing.

  • Ownership: High trust, high autonomy and the ability to influence company-wide technology decisions.

  • Modern Engineering: Work with the latest AI models, automation platforms and engineering tools.

  • Equity: Help shape the future of a category-defining company while sharing in its success.

What This Role Is Not
  • ❌ A pure people-management role.

  • ❌ A meetings-first or process-heavy environment.

  • ❌ A company where AI is an experiment rather than a core part of how we build and operate.

If you're excited about building world-class software, leading exceptional engineers and using AI to transform how an entire business operates, we'd love to hear from you.
