An integral part of Ocado’s success as an online grocery provider is the highly important Spokes that are responsible for the delivery of our customers’ orders. Within these spokes our Team Managers are the backbone of the operation, with their skills, knowledge and desire to help manage a successful spoke, in order to provide the best possible employee and customer experience of Ocado.

About the role 

The following tasks are not an exhaustive list of responsibilities for a Team Manager and are subject to change:

  • To Manage the delivery operation team including recruitment, training and performance management of all of the spoke drivers
  • Chairing meetings with our drivers including any absence, disciplinary and welfare meetings in line with Ocado policies
  • To manage the site operations; ensuring all KPIs, targets and deadlines are met without disruption to the business
  • Ensuring all health and safety measures are in place and followed and that all training requirements are met and up to date at all times

This role is for 40 hours per week, working a variation of 10 hour shifts on an any 4 days from 7 rotation, including some weekend working. 

About you 

The ideal candidate will shape and drive a world class employee experience and environment to attract and retain the right people and lead your teams to foster a culture of respect, identity, loyalty, trust and aspiration.

  • You will also ensure KPIs are a vital focus across your site, including labour turnover, absence rates and engagement scores.
  • You will continuously encourage self-improvement, training and development of your teams to support succession planning and aim to drive and develop initiatives that encourage site-wide engagement and enhance morale.
  • Previous experience in conducting formal meetings, understanding and applying the relevant policies appropriately is desired. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication and numeracy skills are a must and a passion for dealing with people and a focus to achieve employee satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance are preferred and previous experience in a spoke/warehouse or logistics environment are highly desirable.
