Team Lead Product Financial Control

The Product Financial Control team (currently with six individuals) forms part of the global Accounting and Control function in Group Finance, based in Amsterdam. The team's core responsibilities include accounting and reporting of Adyen’s internally-built payments and banking products. Adyen has internally developed its systems and products to cater for global scale, and, as such, the team’s mission is to stay ahead of product development and build processes that ensure that the correct and accurate accounting is captured for Adyen’s internal and external reporting needs. 

We expect the Team Lead Product Financial Control to build for scale. With your team you'll support various stakeholders in executing Adyen's global long-term strategy, including Group Finance OKRs (Objectives and Key Results). 

The team is made up of individuals with diverse skill sets, each with a core systems or product focus, and, as such, encompasses a broad set of challenges. As Team Lead, your role is about mentoring and skill development, inspiring action with a clear vision, taking care of and empowering people, and overseeing the team’s processes to achieve its goals.

What you’ll do

People:

  • Leadership expectations: Build a best-in-class team, define success and deliver great results.
  • Lead and mentor the direct reports, act as a role model for the organization and cultivate a winning culture, facilitate learning and development, manage and plan resources, and oversee the team’s day-to-day way of working.
  • Empower your team with a clear vision and ensure the team is well-equipped to achieve their goals.
  • Create a positive and inspiring team environment, cultivate a ‘one-team mentality’

Process:

  • Drive simplification and automation of financial accounting and reporting operations to improve efficiency and controls.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate closing of accounts on a monthly basis and preparation of periodic financial reports.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders, lead financial accounting and reporting related initiatives related to the team’s scope of work, and take an active role in systems and product design that complies with Adyen’s reporting needs at scale.

Who you are

  • You have at least 3 years of team leading experience, and 8-12 years of work experience in financial accounting and reporting within a multinational organization.
  • In-depth expertise across the different areas of financial accounting and reporting and a deep understanding of financial process optimization to contribute to scaling Adyen’s Group Finance team.
  • Strong people leadership skills to build and lead high-performance teams in an international setup; it is expected that you will coach and develop others in the team, and you are decisive when needed.
  • You have exceptional communication skills, able to translate complex topics into easy-to-understand concepts and influence others where necessary to achieving the team’s goals. 
  • You are detail-oriented and able to maintain a big picture view to help others solve problems and connect the dots to broader organizational needs.
  • A high degree of self-motivation, ambitious and hands-on, with an entrepreneurial mindset; a good team player with the ability to engage with people and deliver within tight deadlines within a fast-paced, international environment.
